Three quarters of ugly, one quarter of pretty.

Lets get to the grades…

Offense:

Vinny Vinny Vinny. How can you come in after two days of practice and perform better than David Carr who has been through a full training camp. You truly are an old old man among boys. Good on ya. Vinny already knows something David Carr has yet to figure out. Steve Smith is almost always open. Even if he has two defenders smothering him, trust me, he is open.

Deangelo Williams continues to show the most promise of any Panthers RB, breaking off long gains and a TD where Foster would have been tackled short. I for one would like to see Deangelo used more and more in the game, much like Brian Westbrook is used for the Eagles.

Overall a decent performance given their challenges.

Offensive Grade: B

Defense:

Let me go on record and say that Jon Beason should continue to start at MLB this season even when Morgan is healthy from his injury. Morgan will not be a Panther next season, and Beason looks to be a future pro bowler. Please don’t hinder his growth by moving him or benching him.

Julius Peppers has apparently awoken from his slumber. he showed the intensity Sunday we have not seen from him all season long. As the play of Peppers goes, so goes the play of the entire defense.

Much improved.

Defensive Grade: B

Special Teams:

Even though Kasay missed a kick, the special teams was improved due to an actual return game particularly on punt returns. Robinson looks to be settling in and gaining confidence. Thats great news.

Special Teams Grade: B
