Possibly the most disappointing game in franchise history. So much so, I felt the need to shut down the huddle server, shower it with disinfectant, and have out local shaman perform a voodoo hex on it to rid it of evil spirits.
Yes, it was that bad.
Offense:
At one point well into the second quarter, the Falcons had more first downs (10) than the Panthers had offensive plays (9). If there is a more telling stat out there, I have never heard it. The Panthers offense did finally decide to show up in the second half, but by then it was too late.
Offensive Grade: D-
Defense:
The Defense spotted a division rival in their home 17 points before they decided to play. The offense is partly to blame here, as no time to make adjustments was given the defense on the sidelines. However, the Falcons have been running a quick to no huddle all season long, and the Panthers failed to adjust. Poor planning, poor coaching, poor execution.
Defensive Grade: D-
Special Teams
Usually you can count on at least one of the three squads performing up to the task, but not on Sunday. Special Teams once again gave away field position to the opponent. A little help from them would have gone a long way.
