Game Grades – Panthers at Packers

November 30, 2008

The Cardiac Cats are back it would seem, and just in time.

Offense:

Deangelo Williams did not reach 100 yards, but did run for a team high four touchdowns against the Packers. I do believe that is a tradeoff he would take 10 out of 10 times. Steve Smith continues to show how he is one of the handful of NFL players that can change the game at any time. His last minute heroics saved the Panthers from blowing an early lead, and saved Delhomme from throwing a nasty pick. Steve had better get a little something extra in his stocking this year.

Offensive Grade: B

Defense:

The good news? They did enough to win the game. They held Green Bay to a field goal when it counted. For that, they are let off of the hook just a bit. But it is concerning just how many points they have allowed as of late. It seems playing a soft zone with no pressure on the QB on a 3rd and 15 is going to always remain with the Panthers, unfortunately. Some things never change.

Defensive Grade: C

Special Teams:

The Special Teams unit have redeemed themselves from last week’s performance. The kick returns played as big a part of the 4th quarter comeback than any other facet of the team, if not more so. The much maligned squad definitely deserves a bit of gratitude this week.

Special Teams Grade: A
