Carolina Panthers Fantasy Football Week 3 – Start’em Sit’em

On Sunday the Carolina Panthers square off against the Minnesota Vikings presumably at Bank of America Stadium. Last week I told you Fozzy Whitaker was your sleeper fantasy pick and it paid major dividends. Here is what I think will happen this week.

Cam Newton – The Minnesota Vikings defense is no joke, as proven by stifling Aaron Rodgers the Green Bay Packers for the most part. Minnesota has two lineman that already have two sacks each this season. The Panthers, as a comparison, have zero defensive linemen with two sacks. The Carolina Panthers have played one good defensive team so far this year, and they struggled. TO make matters worse for the Panthers offense, Jonathan Stewart is out so Minnesota has had the opportunity to game plan for his replacements. 9 times out of 10 I am for starting Cam Newton. Not this week, hope I am wrong. He may have a decent game, but I don’t think he will be worth the huge cap number this week. Verdict: Sit’em

Ted Ginn – I do feel that the Vikings will give up at least one big play to the Panthers, possibly for a touchdown. If that happens, Ted Ginn will no doubt be the target. Ginn comes at a moderate price tag this week, so the risk vs reward factor is favorable. Verdict: Start’em

Fozzy Whitaker/Cameron Artis-Payne/Mike Tolbert: Running back by committee this week, meaning the fantasy points will be spread out a great deal. I don’t see any of these guys doing enough against the Vikings stout line individually. The Panthers may very well have over 100 yards rushing, but the distribution lowers individual worth. Verdict: Sit’em

Carolina Panthers Week 3 Sleeper Pick

Carolina Panthers Defense/Special teams – Low scoring game? Check. Minnesota without starting running back? Check. Sub par Vikings quarterback? Check. Panthers home game? Check. Lots of field goals? Check. Starting the Carolina Panthers defense is a no brainer this week. It would not shock me if they have as many touchdowns as the offense. Verdict: Start’em
