Rumor: Julius Peppers is back with Carolina Panthers

Has Julius Peppers decided to come back to the Carolina Panthers? Maybe so.

The Huddle is a curious thing. We started this website in 2003 and it has grown into one of the largest NFL fan communities in the country. Sometimes that amount of reach turns into rumors that appear to have legs. The latest rumor is that defensive end Julius Peppers has decided to come back to the Carolina Panthers for the 2017 NFL season.

Normally, I am pretty skeptical, but this rumor from a long time Huddler in particular seems to have legs.

“I was Stationed at SJAFB in Goldsboro from 1992 to 1995.  I had 3 mentors that took me under their wing during that time.  One was MSgt. Barrett who refereed (sp?) HS basketball games when he could.  I drug his ass to work for over a month in “93 when he had car trouble.

Anyway, he knew/knows Carter and Pep from their pre-UNC days and their whole fam damilies.  I am a Dookie and never gave a ***.

I have never lost touch with him even when we had to write snail mail letters.  He is not my bestest friend but we have never gone over a month without contact.

He texted me tonight tonight and said Julius is coming back to the Panthers, period.  He said 3 different family members he still knows said it was a done deal.”

When rumors have specific details like these I tend to weigh it more towards the legitimate. In this day and age of social media, often times the first rumblings of big news comes from friends and families.

So, take it for what it is worth. Julius Peppers could be a done deal for Carolina.
