Carolina Panthers Fantasy Football Outlook – San Francisco 49ers

Week one of the NFL season is underway. That means weekly fantasy football are scouring the internet for the best bang for their imaginary bucks. Here is a bit of info that may help you set your rosters when it comes to the Carolina Panthers and their match up against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cam Newton – Sit’em

With Newton still recovering from shoulder surgery, you can safely expect the Carolina Panthers to run the ball. And when they are done running the ball, they will run the ball a bit more. The Panthers will not want to over work Newton’s arm ahead of hosting the Buffalo Bills in week 2. The Panthers losing to Sean McDermott at Bank of America Stadium would be about as big of a blow to morale as I can imagine this season.

Jonathan Stewart – Draft’em

As noted above, look for the Panthers to run the heck out of the ball on Sunday. While rookie Christian McCaffrey should get plenty of touches, Jonathan Stewart will be used in goal line situations. I suspect there is at least one rushing touchdown in Stewart’s immediate future. Pick him up at a pretty decent bargain. Thank me later.

Panthers Defense – Draft’em

Now that the Panthers have a much improved secondary, look for the defense to feast on starting 49ers QB Brian Hoyer. The journeyman has plenty of experience and therefore plenty of film on his tendencies. It is true that he is playing within a new system, but luckily for the Panthers it is a system from Atlanta and one they are all too familiar with. I suspect the Panthers defense will give up between 10 and 14 points and could possibly score on their own from a Luke Kuechly interception.
