Older women and Twilight

So at work today I learned that one of my coworkers, a 42 year old woman, took a vacation day. Upon further investigation (waiting 5 seconds while her neighbor told me where she was) I learned that she was out of work so she could go watch the new Twilight movie at the Epicenter in Charlotte.

My question is... is this weird? I really found it to be almost disturbing.

I know a girl in her 30s who used to post on here regularly who did the same thing.

And she wasn't taking her kids. She has 3 boys. And the woman I asked said she went with one of her friends who is also an older woman.

I think it's a bit silly myself, but people like what they like.

That same lady might think it weird when we took off from work to go see grown men practicing together, as I'm sure will be the case when training camp rolls around.

One of my wife's friends is in a "group"... something like "Twilight Moms" or some such... they went to the midnight showing last night... most of these women also do not have kids to take to see it... they're all in their early 30's with really young kids.

most of the women on my facebook page have albums of going to see it last night. They took pics outside wearing their Twilight shirts buying tix, pics of them getting their stub, pics of them finding a seat while gawking at all the other soccer moms wearing their Twilight shirts and stuff. It's insane.

I guess women are more into romance than men, even as they get older. I admittedly know very little about Twilight, but it seems to be a "teen love fest". I just figured older people grew out of that. But I know some older people who like Harry Potter. I guess it's the same.

That's the thing. As women become bored with married life (or bored with pursuing the married life), I think they long for the lust and romance of their youth.

I think that's why Twilight is a hit with women of all ages. It appeals predominantly to young women, but also to women who want to remember what that youthful love was like. Vampires just so happen to be the vehicle Meyer uses to deliver her romance. You're kidding yourself if you think these women are into vampires.

You are right. I guess it's not as creepy as I originally thought. And yea I figured it definitely wasn't the vampire thing that had them hooked.

Maybe I'll read it next. :leaving:

Maybe these women are also stupid and vapid, and so they readily identify with Bella.

mine is mad that the eclipse book jumps from all the buildup of the sex straight to a sentence beginning with "the next morning", and leaves all the detail out.

Note to younger single guys...

Sharpen your teeth, and dress in all black...

Take advantage of the fad and bang all the milfs you can...

Who would have thought that glittery, pale guys driving Volvos would be coveted by women the world over?

Might be my wife...she left the house with a group of her friends and got in line about 7pm for the midnight show and got home around 3 am. When I got home from work today, I asked her how the movie was and she said not good.....when I asked why she said it was not good for me in particular.

Then I started to get a heated lecture about how much such and such loves Bella and men will never understand and if they only had a clue things would be.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Woke up an hour later with King of Queens reruns on the TV and her no where to be found. I really try hard to be a good husband....I do.... but I can't compete with the Immortal Casinovas of the silver screen

Moral of the story: Never let your wife watch Twilight during that emotional time of the month........or ever.

its the beetles in 2010. except with everyone wanting to feel younger, its ok for older women to go nuts for that stuff.(i bet some watch the lost boys) i remember when only 14 year girls texted, now grown men with kids of their own send LOLs, eh...

i will say it would have been wrong for millions of older males to go insane over a 17 year girl, the jails would have been overfull. but the ladies did it and no one cared.

They are socially accepted pedophiles yet I am the one who gets chastised for noticing that Miley Cyrus is beginning to dress a bit more slutty as she nears legal age. Sheesh....

Nurse and 2 assistants went to a midnight show. They showed up for work the next day, so whatever.

I guess if it gets people in to reading, like the Hairry Pooper stuff, awesome.

So splane to me how becoming a vampire is "sexy".
Undead, bad hours, soulless and evil. Can't go out during the day. No heartbeat therefore no erections....
