Confirmed by Todd Howard on the VGAs.

Due out 11/11/11

Wow. So that's Dragon Age II, The Witcher 2, Elder Scrolls V, and possibly Mass Effect 3 in the sane year.
Seeing lots of speculation about #tesv game engine. It's brand new... and it's spectacular!
Bethesda said that via twitter. Glad it's not Gamebryo, but I'm wondering how different it will be.

Pretty sure it's just gamebryo 2.0. They haven't started using Tech 5 yet.

Yea, I knew it wasn't Tech 5. It's probably just Gamebryo 2, but that's better than previous engines I hope.

Um, elder scrolls should not be compared to the likes of horrendous games like mass effect or even a decent game like dragon age. The elder scrolls series are years in between one another. They take massive amounts of time, energy and workforce that they must be and are expected to be a top seller each release, they have had consistent success in doing this (much like GTA, but even longer waiting). They are the superstar of the modern open-world RPG world. Oblivion is better than all RPGs after it and it was a release title. Nothing on the Xbox or any console for that matter even came close to the master piece ES III was, that was my favorite. I cannot fuging wait I will be taking much time off work, elder scroll games are always worth playing. The only games coming close would be GTA series and maybe Two Worlds 2 if they do it right.

This is insulting.

However, when you play it there will be some aspects like relational depth between characters that seem to lack compared to select few games now days, as with other aspects as well. So you'd have to play it 'in it's time' to understand and appreciate how revolutionary it really was. Remember it was released with the Xbox 360. Even taking this into consideration, you need to stop playing NV and play Oblivion immediately! It is the very best RPG on a console at it's time and can be argued as the best today, almost 5 years after the fact, that is impressive.

I agree Oblivion is a great game much better than Fallout, Mass Effect, and NotOR IMO.

I find it hard to believe that anything is better than Fallout 3... but I AM obsessed with post-apocalyptic stuff...

I hate RPGs because in order to get the satisfaction of feeling like I've beaten it or gotten my money's worth you have to play it like 200 hours.

I agree 100%. They had to go more mainstream though to continue to have the advantage. While I loved Morrowind, it wasn't for everyone. It didn't hold your hand. There weren't way points or quest books. You want to know something you better fucking listen and paying attention to what the hell is going on lol. God forbid you forget what the fuck your doing. I prefer it this way, it's more realistic for me, feels more real. But, it's not always better. They still release the best games hands down.

Yes, Fallout 3 I would consider very close. That game was great.

Personally, I want more assimilation added to the already massive game. More house/city owning, more in depth relationships etc while keeping the the great action content.

I've never seen so many people eager to fall through floors into empty blackness, or get stuck in rocks, walls and trees.

But there's always the 5$ horse armor.
