I dunno. I remember we had to beat the saints to get into the playoffs like 5 years ago. we started of really bad and won a lot of games in a row and no one wanted to play us. We lost to saints and didnt get in.

I was kinda steamed about that.

I agree with the OP. Just because NO fans don't like Atl, it doesn't mean the Falcons care at all about playing them. Don't think anyone does.

I get excited about any game, really. I actually hope one of our LB's knock the lights out of Brees and Ryan.

There are a lot of teams that get up a little more for the Saints, only because of Brees. But I don't think any team is really their "rival," though. I get much more excited and pumped up when we play TB or Atlanta. I feel like our players are the same way.

Also, if any team in the league is going to have a rivalry with NO, it has to be Seattle.

Saints biggest rival is God. We all know God hates New Orleans.

I realize how stupid this is, but I just can't take them seriously. Yes, I know they won the SB recently, but I think I'll always think of N.O. as a Detroit-like team. Like, it's cute when they win...not intimidating.

Why do carolina fans have such a warped view of things....Or are just trolling?

Main article: Falcons–Saints rivalry
The Falcons–Saints rivalry is a divisional rivalry in the NFC South. At 84 games played, the series is by far the oldest and most established rivalry in the division. Born one year apart, the Saints and Falcons were the first two NFL franchises in the Deep South (Washington and Dallas being arguably southern but not in the traditional Deep South). They have shared many of the same players, such as Morten Andersen (the leading scorer in both franchises' histories), Bobby Hebert (who quarterbacked for both teams in the 1990s), and Joe Horn (the Pro Bowl Saints receiver who left for the Falcons in 2007). They have also drawn coaches from the same families, and even shared a head coach: recent Falcons coach Jim L. Mora is the son of longtime Saints coach Jim E. Mora, and former Falcons and Saints coach Wade Phillips is the son of former Saints coach Bum Phillips. Although rarely noted by the national media - no doubt due to both teams' long stretches of futility - games between the Falcons and Saints have riveted their respective regions for more than 40 years. Fans of both teams consider the other their most important and hated opponent.
ESPN.com writer Len Pasquarelli has cited the rivalry as one of the best in all of sports: "Every year, bus caravans loaded with rowdy (and usually very inebriated) fans make the seven-hour trip between the two cities. Unless you've attended a Falcons-Saints debauchery-filled afternoon, you'll just have to take my word for how much fun it really can be."[21]
The all-time series is currently led by Atlanta at 45-39 (44-39 regular season, 1-0 playoffs).

Ummm... The Saints became our #1 division rival since the day they picked up Breezy. Atlanta was our biggest rival in the Vick years... But now again with Matt Ryan...

Here's a definition for you though

Rival- 1 a : one of two or more striving to reach or obtain something that only one can possess b : one striving for competitive advantage

Stay with me for a minute here... It may be hard but hopefully by the end it will make sense to you...Being that their can only be one Division champ, and their are 4 teams striving to win the division... By definition we are all rivals...

So to answer your question and thread title... You probably were the only one that thought that. Clearly after reading this post u must have changed your position and opinion... If not, there's nothing I can do to help you bro.

we are all rivals, we can belittle them all we want but the nfcs usually has 3 competitive teams and one bad one each year, except 08 when 8-8 was the basement. They have a nice system in place and with brees, they are dangerous. I still feel they were gift wrapped that NFCCG vs the Vikes and were more than fortunate to accidentally win a Super Bowl. They have a couple more seasons before they will be the permanent basement cleaners again.

I agree, I don't think of the Saints as a "rival" in the same sense I think of TB and ATL as rivals. Now that the Saints have won a SB and are pretty good I'd like to see us beat them, but that doesn't make it a "rivalry" beyond the simple matter of them being in the same division.

I still remember the pity party we had for the Saints in the "home" game they played here. I understand Katrina was a horrible disaster, but if TB or ATL was hit with a similar disaster I'm not sure we would have felt the same way towards those teams as we did towards the Saints.

The Saints were the doormat of the NFL for the better part of 40 years, it was impossible to hate them or build any kind of rivarly because they were so incredibly bad, it was like rooting against a handicap person in the special olympics.

The Saints-Falcons rivalry is the biggest in the division and it isn't really close.
