Lombardi reports Rivera in limbo. ( GM will decide fate)

Lombardi just reported on NFL network that Ron Rivera fate will be left up to the GM. Also the search is on the way.

Things will get interesting in the next couple of days. I think the Panthers will move fast and Ross or Gettleman will probably be the most likely candidates to end up with the job.

That son of a bitch needs to stop putting out false information, I have to cancel my goodbye Rivera party, for now.

Rivera just said the opposite. He said he and JR will meet to discuss their future. The way he said it sounded like it would be without a GM.

Richardson could easily tell him, "it's up to the guy we hire as GM".

I don't want him back but this is the way it should work. Let the new GM be an actual GM. If he thinks Rivera should be interviewed or be the guy moving forward then ok.

Told Jerry Richardson didn't want to do anything rash. Wants to think it through. With New Year's, could be Wed till he sits down w/ Rivera.

Does not bother me too much, however if we wait around for a while to hire a GM, and wait around for a while for him to evaluate....we may miss out on the coach that he wants.

When the fug did Lambardi become a insider?

I know he was once a gm but that doesn't make him a insider,he doesn't know duck squat about what other teams are doing around the NFL.

Lombardi has legitimate contacts around the league.

Couldn't tell ya where he's getting his Panther info though.

Richardson will decide his fate.

If he wants Rivera gone....he will hire a GM that wants to bring in a new coach. If he wants Rivera to stay for another year, he will hire a GM that thinks Rivera deserves one more year. Richardson won't hire a GM whose plan for the next year isn't already laid out to a degree.

Shouldn't we have ALREADY moved on Ross or Gettleman? The announcement on who our new GM is should have been made last nite at 12:01 AM.

Richardson will be the one to decide like it has always been. Fox would probably still be here if it had ever been up to Hurney.

Couldn't officially even ask permission to interview till the season ended.

Jerry Richardson is out of town today. Hmmmmm...

Officially, no. However, why do you hire a guy with all the ties Ernie Accorsi has in the NFL unless you're planning on sending out some feelers?

You can't negotiate with free agents prior to free agency, yet every single year the top guys sign complicated multiple year contracts shortly after midnight. I'm sure those deals got knocked out in 15 or 20 minutes, right?

Oh I agree we had a head start.

But of course, tampering never happens (officially)
