Panthers interested in DeSean Jackson for the right price...

ESPN's Ed Werder stated on SportsCenter Thursday that free agent Jerricho Cotchery is "close to a decision," and is "right now leaning" toward signing with the Panthers.

Cotchery turns 32 in June, but would at least give Carolina's receiver corps some credibility. The Panthers are currently bereft of NFL receiving experience. Much more interestingly, Werder stated he believes the Panthers have already "internally" discussed trying to trade for DeSean Jackson, and "might entertain the idea" if the Eagles' draft-pick asking price is reasonable.

And this was reported earlier today...

One person close to DeSean Jackson told the Allentown Morning Call that there's "no way" Jackson will return to the Eagles in 2014.

There have been so many conflicting reports on the Eagles' feelings about D-Jax that it's hard to know what to believe. "There is no way he's an Eagle this year," the person close to Jackson said. "However it leaked out, it leaked out, and now this is what you have." Eagles beat writer Nick Fierro predicts "Jackson is out of here for sure, and long before the NFL draft too." Appearing on Sirius XM Radio Thursday morning, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio told host Ross Tucker that "DeSean Jackson's act is wearing thin with Chip Kelly."

Oh, no.

Sounds a little far-fetched...D-Jax and reasonable.

This offseason went from absolutely horrible to possibly average in literally 10 minutes.

Give it another 10 minutes and half the huddle will be in panic mode again.

I said this in another thread...he's due 10 million next year, and we don't have 10 million. How could that possibly work out?

I will laugh so hard if we end up with Jackson and Cotchery, an upgrade over 2013, after this huge fandom meltdown.

Who actually thinks that we are realistically going to acquire D-Jax?  The guy cries for more money every other year.  He is not the same kind of "distraction' that Smitty was purported to be, but he is a distraction nonetheless.

No, he plays on the outside.  He's a solid #1 if his effort is all there.

laugh and fap.  seriously, it would show just like in the middle of a football game, how quickly momentum in this sport/league can shift.

Sign him to a new contract and move money around.  Pretty much backload the poo out of his contract... what Saints did with Byrd.

i'm glad that they are at least "looking" EVERYWHERE.  old and young FAs, possible trades, big and small schools draft prospects, and waiver wire players.  this is good.

My concern isn't with the draft pick (likely 3rd or lower), it's the fact he is owed $50 million.  Don't want to inherit that type of salary.  I'm sure we would renegotiate prior to trading but I can't see him taking  much less.
