  1. Charlotte's growing rapidly but if you measure by metro area it's a bottom 10 NFL city in population.  Like Pittsburgh has 400k less people within the city limits but its full metro area has a million plus more than Charlotte's. The Panther's TV market is the sixth largest despite this though so I'd agree with you.
  2. Cam is forever the popular jock in high school who dated all the hot girls and got you laughed at in gym to a lot of these guys.
  3. PIE as the Patriots are defeated!!!

A true MVP could have led his team to victory even without receivers in my opinion just a casual observation here
  4. Will the Nation view us as #1?

Of course but the next excuse will be that the league is injured and terrible this season. Haters are going to ride that even if we go 19-0. The Patriots were the only team left that the Panthers could earn undeniable respect by beating and now there's even an excuse ready for that potential matchup.
  5. Carolina Panthers Color Rush Video

Fugly looking to me and the helmets looks more out of place than ever. Jets, Bills and Cowboys all look better. Black socks would have gone a long way. Plot by Goodell to soften the blow of America's Team(TM)'s impending collapse.
  6. Crazy yet not so crazy theory on Funchess.

lol @ this team keeping any WR on ice
  7. Would rather our QB avoiding diving through the wall of giant men trying to hurt him when that's Tolbert and Stewarts job. Only on 4th and 1 or if a scramble opportunity presents itself.
  8. About that Newton vs Wilson debate

More happy about Luck's collapse really. He was the chosen son of people who don't want to let go of the traditional QB concept. Seattle reminds me a lot of us so I can't hate too much.
  9. "Entertainment icon" progress

Definitely. To be a true star everyone and their grandma has to like you but in entertainment that starts with the hip hop audience crowning you these days. That's cultural and not regional though, you're right. Like there's always better and and well known players but few will ever be as cool as Vick or Iverson were in their prime.
  10. Can you do without the Cam celebrations?

This constant idea that these guys use petty drama like popeye eats spinach is such BS.
  11. With all the celebration dance hate going around I think it's worth noting that Cam's closer to his "entertainment icon" dream now than ever before. For the first time I'm seeing a lot of non-fans across the country talk about him each week, and almost entirely positive. Celebrities and rappers are namedropping him and now even people outside of the market are calling for MVP. Popular rapper Future rapped "getting money like Cam Newton" and we haven't lost since. Lebron and Steph, the two biggest names in basketball, have given Cam public support. With a couple of GB fans as the exception the general consensus on taking the sign seems to be pro-Cam. Continued ad campaigns. Lots of charitable work this year from the whole team and Cam's ball giving getting more attention making for great PR. Black Twitter is having a ball with his "keep me out of the end zone" line. BONUS: Cam is a squeaky clean and avoids all of the vices of being a young rich athlete. No alcohol, strippers, guns, drugs, etc  An entertainment icon in sports to me is someone like Michael Jordan, Michael Vick, Allen Iverson. An explosive talent and personality that captures the imaginations of the urban market. Kaepernick came out with tattoos and a sneaker collection so ESPN tried hard to make him the hip hop bad boy of football, but the only NFL players that are truly taking off with audiences are Cam and OBJ and we're seeing Cam pull away with it. This is for two simple reasons: wins, and he's owning his personality. Winning really is everything. None of Cam's record shattering seasons as an individual ever got the attention that 9-0 is. I also think we're seeing the first season where Cam is not compromising himself to satisfy people who want to be lowkey at all times. He speaks from the heart at press conferences and that's why get memorable lines like "keep me out of the end zone" and "You can't sell a Whopper at McDonalds" instead of the generic answers of the past. So whether you love his dances or not, I'm pretty sure we officially have the coolest player in the league in the Carolina Panthers' QB and I can't wait to see what comes next.
  12. Cam's celebration was not excessive

Maybe it's just the way it was presented on TV but it felt extended. I enjoy Cam's celebrations but I don't know how he gets away with some of the longer ones when everyone agrees that it's taunting.
  13. Coming to terms with the Frank Kaminsky pick...

Never said he didn't want to come here. He compared playing in front of 17k+ people in college to teams like the Bobcats who regularly had empty arenas. That's just facts. That's not why people hate this move anyway, let's be real. Dude could end up being Vlade Divac but everyone's convinced he's Cody Zeller or Adam Morrison.
  14. Coming to terms with the Frank Kaminsky pick...

Worst part about all this is that the fans may have burned the bridge before the kid could even step foot on it. He could end up being really good for all we know, but if I were him I wouldn't want to stay in Charlotte after last night. You'd think after Noah and Lance this fanbase would have learned to not get carried away before we see what players are made of.
