A person, let's call him a friend of a family, was always gung ho like that. He collected nazi memorabilia, knives, weapons. Joined the marines and ended up in Fallujah. Came back all shell shocked and didn't re enlist. He's a cop somewhere in one of your counties now.
I remember telling him that it's not like in the movies at all and that he should think about his decision.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self to go to the Air Force instead :)
For sure. Once you're in that convoy in the middle of Sadr City it didn't matter if you were combat MOS or not. I remember I never envied the truck drivers and supply people who were on the road every day without the benefit of Bradleys or M1s.
I'm all for arming all the recruiting stations. I'm also for DOD contracting this job to outside agencies like they do at the gates of our military facilities. Who signed that bill? Was it Clinton or Bush?
I'm a combat veteran with 70% disability for spinal injuries (multiple IEDs, broken bones and bullet holes. Should I look down on you now? Stop being silly. Veterans should never judge each other like that.
