I have a better chance of understanding Spanish than I do your sentences.

We Americans can be so freakin stupid sometimes.  Native American Indians aside, we all are immigrants.  People better get used to this with the NFL's push to expand its' presence internationally.

Um....In Igo's latest roster projection I was the first to say that he got it wrong and that Boykin would have a roster spot.  He argued with me and said that Boykin is another Cotchery and Bersin and offered nothing different than those two.  Then Boykin showed out last night, as I thought he would, and everyone is talking about him.
Look, I am not defending anyone.  All I did was start a thread to point out something that has not been mentioned yet...that at least Brown was creating separation and getting open against the Dolphins starters.  That in itself is promising, since there were too many games last season where no one on our roster could get open.

My original post used the word "drops,"  That word is plural, meaning more than 1.  So yes, I admitted that he dropped multiple balls last night.  That is besides the point of my post though.

If he had been plagued by drops last season than I would understand the hate.  But he hasn't, and he has shown that he understands the route tree and what it takes from a technical standpoint to get open.  He has the ability to get open on every play.  Corey will start for us this year and see a lot of action.  And he will catch most balls thrown his way.

    Corey Brown will be OK
I usually don't start threads...heck I rarely post.  But I wanted to be positive about Corey Brown for a second.
Brown couldn't catch a thing last night.  His technique was terrible.  It's like he forgot everything he was ever taught.  But people seem to be forgetting one very important thing.  On all those plays that resulted in drops, Corey was open.  He was constantly beating the Dolphins starting corners and safeties and getting himself in a position to make a play on the ball.  He had great separation on several plays, especially the dropped touchdown (where he beat 3 defenders).
So sure...his drops last night were inexcusable.  But the man at least managed to get open against a formidable Dolphins secondary.  We need to cut him some slack...he went from being the 3rd or 4th WR to having to start in the # 1 spot last night.  It's not like he was plagued by drops last season.  Quite the opposite actually, as he has usually shown good hands.  Hopefully he has learned his lesson and will play much better from here on out.
So that's my positive spin on things.  I know I know...there is usually no room for positivity on The Huddle.

  8. Smithers added a post in a topic We are better than last year.

I agree the talent on the field is better.  The man calling the offensive plays, however, is still crap.

  9. Smithers added a post in a topic Is ANYONE able to make a case for Brockel?

It is beyond belief that he has held a roster spot for so long.  Brockel is the last of those players we have who probably would not latch on with another team if we cut him.  How he makes the final 53 year after year is beyond me.

Shaq played great.  He is going to see the field a lot.  Klein only looked good once he moved to MLB against 2-3 stringers.

Our starting defense looked pretty good, except on 3rd down.  We forced a 3rd down on every single set of downs I believe...but couldn't make a stop.  During the regular season, we would have blitzed on those 3rd downs rather than played a soft zone.  Remember...we just do not blitz that much during the preseason, except the 3rd game, historically.  I expect more pressure and less 3rd down conversions against NE.

  12. Smithers added a post in a topic Wide Receiver Battle & Running Back Battle - Who do you "HOPE" makes the team?

I would love to see Mike Brown and Boykin get reps earlier in the game against defensive starters.  Same with Wegher.  I think Ward should take Brockels spot, allowing us to still keep either 4 RB or 6 WR.  Brockel adds nothing to this team...he is not an offensive weapon and is a below average blocker.

Hope the man can get another shot some day...would hate to see his career end like this.

He probably would have smoked weed and wound up suspended anyways.
