  • Interests I certainly bleed my Panther blue, and have followed the team so long, that I'm beginning to feel like history as opposed to remembering history. That being said, I follow the Panthers very closely and am truly a Panthers fanatic in the best sense of the word.

In addition to following the Panthers and the NFL, I also write poems and essays regarding different aspects of race relations in America, and sometimes the world. You can see some of my poetry at, and perhaps more importantly read my essays on race at Yes, I know that dealing with racial issues can seem somewhat taboo at times, but my goal is to provide forums where people can at least open up a dialogue and discuss racial issues forthrightly, but respectfully. It is my dream that people will get to a point where, like Dr. martin Luther King expressed, people will be judged by their character and not skin color. Moreover, I have been known to write reviews and opinions on different aspects of the wireless industry, and other issues that affect consumers.

Lastly, I am a family man who works a penny ante job, enjoys sports and very few TV shows, and plays video games. I am in some ways the quintessential "starving artist", who somewhat revels in being a rebel and covets a Bohemian lifestyle.

No,  clearly  Ealy's level of play is now vindicated.

Who said anything about finding a no.1 receiver? I'm tired of the straw man arguments that are always presented here like clockwork as it pertains to upgrading the team in general mid-season. It's not about finding a no. 1 receiver, it's about finding a receiver who can make more than one catch per game at this point (and, yes, I am being facetious with the one catch, but you get the point).

Having Gettleman who is adept at finding talent,  even among undrafted free agents,  mitigates the dealing of later round picks.
Acceptable deals for vets,  even ones in the last year of their deals is not unthinkable nor out of the ordinary.
We pretty much must do something (like some of us have been saying for some time) if we want to really go deeper within the post season than last year and maybe even win it all.
Perhaps some of you should take the BYE week and ponder more on how to improve our offense than focusing on being the unabated apologists that is your modus operandi.

Yeah, they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel. Bledsoe was decent, but Brady was the man that carried the Patriots and Belichick to the next level. But just to entertain you, here is an article that makes a case for BB, and TB:
One thing is for sure, you can't give all the credit to either man.

  7. top dawg added a post in a topic It feels like the hype around our Run blocking should have been for pass blocking.

I have said it several times: until teams respect our receivers,  then this is basically how it's going to be.  KB kept teams honest last year.  This year we just don't  have any one WR that strikes fear in the opposition,  now they can stack the box with impunity and cause us to have a very awkward ground game.

You're probably right, simply because the voters are reluctant to think outside of the box. In many ways the MVP thing is a popularity contest (kind of like a football message board), and we all know that Cam isn't going to win any popularity contests for different reasons.  But if people were to completely judge his accomplishments (thus far) on a relative basis, like Brandt suggests, then the argument for Cam is most compelling.

Big words about arguably the best QB who has ever played the game. Belichick really wasn't poo before Brady. You know that.  But I'm not going to go off on a tangent about Brady, Luck, RG3, Wilson or any of them. This is all about Cameron Jerrell Newton!

I don't believe there is any QB in the league who could do so much with so little. Brady, maybe? But one thing about the Patriots is that they have smart, veteran guys who have bought into the system. They absolutely know what they are doing on every single play. Cam just doesn't have that right now.  Our team on offense is a whole lot more inexperienced, and has lesser talent, at wide-out.
And, Brandt didn't even address the lack of play calling (which was admittedly pretty impressive during the Saints game).

I get what you're saying, but I am thinking more in terms of the development and maturity as a player and man.
Cam is coming into his own!

Brandt gives Cam some love (some MVP whispers through three games)
Cam is really getting some well deserved appreciation right now. Gil Brandt is one of the most respected minds in football, and it is not lost upon him that Cam Newton is basically driving the show on offense right now. But, more importantly, Brandt sees the growth of Cam on and off the field. You can tell that Brandt really observed Cam on his visits, so he is not talking out of his ass.  This article is definitely worth the read and something to consider. Here are Brandt's five reasons to consider Cam in the MVP conversation:
    1) He seems to have stepped up as a leader.2) His work habits are translating to on-field success.3) He's better at running the offense.4) He's showing more zip and touch.5) He's a smarter, more dangerous runner. How sweet it is that some things that some of us had already seen coming since last year is now coming to fruition, and that someone like Gil Brandt recognizes it.  What's even more amazing is that he recognizes and acknowledges that Cam has basically been doing all these great things with suspect talent around him, which is what some of us have been saying all along. Cam has been amazing through three games, and really most of his career.

If he keeps doing what he is doing, and I have know reason to elieve that he won't, then $7 million per year just is not gonna cut it. Gman can't fake the funk by making it appear he is going deep into his pockets because his shorts are so high, Gman is gonna have to dig a little deeper in those nipple shorts.

Jared Allen wanted to come HERE
According to David Newton, the "Panthers were clear no. 1 choice for DE Jared Allen".  The NFL's leading active sack leader wanted to become a Panther.
I don't know about y'all, but this is great news, as you only have to look at the recent vids (links in the other thread) and realize that Allen was only playing 57 percent of the snaps to come to the conclusion that Allen is willing and able to come here and make a valuable contribution immediately.  This is a future HOFER that has something left in the tank and probably a little chip on his shoulder after hearing all the whispers that he is done!
Smart, motivated, and a track record. You can question whether or not he's gassed out if you want to, but I am fairly sure that he's gonna hit the ground---and the QB---running.
