It's their system, and no system will be perfect. They decided that passes behind or on the line of scrimmage will be rewarded as neutral. If a quarterback checks down, and the RB takes it 70 yards and breaks 5 tackles, the QB didn't do anything but throw a check down. Those are gimmie throws, and they shouldn't be treated otherwise because QB's don't make them. They don't give Alex Smith a high grade because he checks down and throws screens. He doesn't throw a lot of interceptions, but he doesn't make wow plays either.
PFF grades are not absolute, but I somewhat understand the grade. As good as Rodgers looked, he threw an interception that was dropped and fumbled (negated by a penalty). A lot of his yards come from yards after the catch, and they give the receivers a positive grade for their earned yards.
I expect him to play. He saw the independent neurologist on last week Saturday and wasn't cleared. So I assume that he'll see him Saturday again and if he's cleared, I don't see how they keep him off the field. Ron said that he didn't need to practice to play.
He didn't have a lot of drops. He caught it with his body more than I would like, but there were enough hands catches. I didn't say that he had a good season. He played well for a rookie, and he was undrafted free agent. Colbert was a second round pick. Plus Brown had another role than Colbert. I don't expect unrealistic things from UFDA WR's.
Brown played well as a rookie last year. He had a great OTA and a good training camp. Yes, he was terrible in the preseason. But no, lets 2 preseason games outweigh everything. He'll have a short leash, but Rivera knows that he can get open and normally he catches well. You don't become a good coach by overreacting. That's our job. Funch will play a lot of snaps but I can understand that they don't want to overwhelm who's been out a lot in the preseason. Cotch is injured, Norwood just arrived, and Funch is coming off injury. Who else could we start? NO ONE!
He had 85 yards and 5 catches of the 126 yards and 9 catches in the last preseason game. That's a game with caveat. in the three other preseason games: 12 targets, 4 catches and 41 yards. That's not doing a lot and unimpressive to be fair.
