its about giving two year deals to players you are not sure about. you are stuck with them if they don't perform well with their cap hits and dead money if cut. DG has stated as much in interviews. Sure they regret only signing 1 year players after the fact they produced well.   they tried to eliminate risk as much as possible. 2013-14 were transition years for us to save as much money as possible for cam luke olsen and set us up for our draft picks. that's the way i saw it anyway. i mean we were signing players for less than a mill one year contracts. if those players didn't pan out they walk free, sign two and three year deals cut them and dead money accrues and those chunks add up. We were trying to get out as quickly as possible. i dont feel like looking up the cap totals for years 2013 and 14. but you will see a SERIOUS difference between those years and what we were working with for 15 and could take a little more risks.

I wouldn't say learned his lesson. We were mightily cap strapped. He was playing it one year at a time. After the cap opened up you saw more two year deals
  3. Ginn, Oher and Coleman

All three signed two year deals
  4. Johnson and Hardy

He always showed up for games tho even if sacks were not there, pressure was. Beast in run support and always gave super effort and made every player on our dline better with his ferocity.   I dont like like this downplaying of hardy now that he is gone. He is an absolutely terrific player on the field
  5. Johnson and Hardy

I don't think hardy would be here even if he didn't have his off the field problems. I think it was just a tag and walk scenario.
  6. LOL @ Friday Morning Coverage

You could say that about 29 teams in the NFL this year.
  7. Johnson and Hardy

Don't think hardy will ever be back here. I think he really appreciated our players comments about him leading up to this game. Tolbert mentioned that he and hardy text each other weekly. CJ and him are obviously very close. Thomas Davis said what he said. Reminds me of a time when I had a friend who could not get out of his own way. He did horrible things to those around him, myself included, but I knew him personally and his struggles. It's not excusing poor behavior but knowing and being close to that person you can't just close them off completely with all I had been through with him. think this is a similar situation. They just want the best for hardy. just a very bittersweet moment because you could see high character guys like Greg Olsen embracing him even during the game. that just spoke volumes to me while I was watching the game about how they feel about him. I hope he turns his life around if he hasn't started already.
  8. A Proud Mother

    she raised that dude right
  9. Pure Respect Rivera / Davis

This year has been so surreal. So much positivity.
  10. Thomas Davis With An 11-0 Shoutout

Hes gonna have a talkin to cams momma when they get home!
  11. Johnson and Hardy

Anybody else notice after one play hardy going up to cam (I presume to help him up) and cam brushed him off and ran to the sidelines. The look on gregs face was legit shock.
  12. Unheralded Architect of the Carolina Panthers

He brought the cornerstones but he did his best to make them not worth a damn thing with the contracts and players he added around them.   teams obviously take time to grow, but he handcuffed this team. Gettleman is allowing them to flourish. I do thank him for taking the "chance" on Cam and luke to some extent. But those two would've gone nowhere with Marty's other GM responsibilities and decisions. Football is the ultimate team sport.
  13. Colin Jones in the slot...

Get out of our base 4-3 as much as This year? Dude we had the highest nickel formation in the league the past two years. Nickel was basically our base formation.
  14. friday morning schadenfreude

What's even better is going to the Falcons and saints board. They are legit scared of this team.
  15. Johnson and Hardy

I want to be clear that I'm not trying to make hardy out to be a victim in all of this. He did this all to himself. part of me wishes he was a panther because it's obvious our players really like this guy and just maybe they could have helped him. Dallas is a freak show.
