  1. lightsout added a post in a topic Im sorry but I just hate the Seahawks more than our NFCs rivals

Seattle don't want none. When the refs try to hand you a game and you still barely escape with the win (against the Lions, no less), you know you're one good team away from being exposed. Beating teams in ways that are frustrating is our business.

    And cousin, business is a-boomin'.

  2. lightsout added a post in a topic The Devin Funchess "drop"

If the ball hits you where that pass hits you, you have to catch it. Slightly behind, but both hands were able to be on that ball. At the NFL level, receivers make that catch ALL the time. He's a rookie who has seen limited snaps and fewer targets. Drops are to be expected. Saying it was a "bad" throw Is patently absurd.

I see no reason why we don't beat Seattle like a drum with how they looked tonight.

  4. lightsout added a post in a topic Luke doing much better expect him back against Seattle according to NFL Network

My sincere hope is that Luke got ahold of Seahawk film last week when he was told he wasn't playing against TB. 2 and a half weeks of him preparing for one opponent? An opponent he has faced already, in a playoff game? Yeah, the defense WILL be prepared. As long as our offense drops 28-35 points, we win. Offense may need help though. Luckily, J No has this romantic relationship with the endzone.

    Green Bay and the Panthers
No, I'm not looking ahead to that matchup. But how does this sound: we look VERY similar right now.

Everybody discounts this team because we're not flashy. We're not going out and eating teams up with big plays or throwing up crazy numbers. We're just beating teams any way we can. That's it.

But if you look at the numbers and the schedules of these two teams, and then look at the media narratives for each, you'll see the point I am making.

Here are the general narratives for each of these teams, at this point:

GB: Man, they look good. Off to a fast start. Team to beat in the NFC. Road to the Super Bowl may run through them.
Car: Well, they're 4-0, but you can't really trust their record. I mean, they haven't exactly been winning pretty against bad teams. Atlanta is still better and will win that division, but Carolina MAY have a chance. Wild card team.

OK, I get it, no love for us, not griping much about it. It can't be a surprise, because it's US we're talking about.

GB has played nothing but 1-win teams to this point.
Carolina has played nothing but 1-win teams to this point.

    GB points allowed/points for: 71/113
    Car points allowed/points for: 71/108

This team cannot be scoffed at any more than GB can. Whatever BS excuse you want to give as to why the Packers are more legitimate right now than us, it doesn't matter. Strictly looking at how the teams are playing, both teams are doing what is necessary to win football games in this league. Looking on paper, our team is putting up points almost identically on pace with GB, and our defenses are allowing teams with 1 win to put up, on average, 17-18 points per game (which is the recipe for winning in this league. Keep teams to 2 TDs and a FG and you win typically).

We have an extra week to prepare for Seattle. No reason why we can't win that game. We're good enough, we should be healed up (minus CJ) and we should be mentally ready for that game. All that will be left is to play and show them all that we can be 5-0 and beat a team that is "legitimate". That confidence spike will be big for the rest of October and into November.

  6. lightsout added a post in a topic So we need to talk about the Falcons and our wild card standing..

I'd much rather player GB and Seattle. At least if we lose both of those, we can say we lost to teams worth a damn. And not Teddy Bridgewater and Colin Kaepernick. And if we win against the best QB in the game and Beast Mode/Russell, we can at least have those bragging rights.

Meanwhile...Atlanta MIGHT be celebrating over beating Kaep/Bridgewater-lead teams. lol

  7. lightsout added a post in a topic So we need to talk about the Falcons and our wild card standing..

Both Atlanta and Carolina rely on one player to truly move the offense.

Cam has shown this year, you can't stop him. The only player on the field that can stop Cam is the receiver he is throwing to or himself. That's it.

Julio is dangerous...against everybody except Josh Norman. Need I say more?

We take the Falcons. Maybe not sweep, because Atlanta games are always unpredictable for us, but we'll get them at least once. Also, I'm not confident that Atlanta keeps their streak going. Meanwhile, we can split our next 4 and I'd still feel we're a better team than Atlanta if they go 8-0 to start, simply because of the teams we'd have had to beat to be 6-2.

  8. lightsout added a post in a topic Glad to be 4-0

Not once during any of these games did I have legitimate fear that we'd lose. I never felt that this team had a game slip out of their control. Even with our defense playing less than stellar and our offense being methodical and frustrating at times rather than explosive and exciting.

People think wins are only "good" if you either 1) make a big comeback or 2) blow teams out. If one of those two didn't happen, they just seem to go "meh, ok, you won, cool, good for you".

ONCE AGAIN, let me set the record straight for the negative nancies who don't understand that you can't look at the surface of an NFL season/schedule/box score and know who a team is.

Beat a Jacksonville team that finished the year 5-11 by 1 point (we were down 17-7 at the start of the 4th)
Beat TB by 3 in OT and they finished the year 7-9 (they had just blew out the Eagles. They finished3rd in the NFCS. Tied game in the 4th, then we kicked the game winner).
Blew out a Falcons team that finished last in the NFCS (came into the game 1-1 on the season)
Beat a Saints team that finished 8-8 (they came in to this game with a 1-3 record...we won by 6...because Rod Smart, basically).

And that's JUST the first four weeks of that season. No wins against a team of playoff caliber and all but one of those games was down to the wire.

    Calm. The fug. Down.

Let's just say my career makes me VERY familiar with laws, particularly civil stuff like this. She is not on the lease. She can't stay past me telling her to leave. The way the law works is that if you allow somebody to occupy your house, like a friend (not a child. that is different), then you can ask them to leave at any time. Their refusal, legally, is trespassing. So, upon me telling her to leave, if she refuses, one phone call and a city officer shows up. I explain the situation, stating she isn't on the lease, she must leave. As far as her getting her property, she can get what she can and if she can't get the big stuff (she brought the washer and dryer with her, but I live right next door to a laundromat and I make enough money that I can have new machines from Lowes by Christmas if I play it right), she can come back at my convenience to get it.

Where eviction comes in is long, long term staying. Such as if you get your mail there, you have lived there for years, you are listed to that address on your driver's license, etc. That is when you need eviction paperwork. I couldn't get a DVPO, but I could get a 50C (the civil version of a DVPO, essentially. No criminal element to it, which means I'd need a lawyer, and fug that).

Won't need any of this though. From my understanding, she is going to work in the morning, coming home, packing her poo, and hitting the road back to her mom's. Should return Sunday for the big stuff that she can't get on her own.

    Toxic Relationship
We've all had that buddy, right? The person whose significant other is a manipulative, controlling, narcissistic psycho and we can't figure out WHY they are with them? The one we SWEAR will never be us, because we wouldn't put up with that crap. Nope, not for one second!

Well, I've become that guy. I honestly have no idea how it happened. We've dated for about a year, have recently moved in together and things have gone off the deep end crazy in the time since (about 2-3 months). We moved in together for a few reasons. Mainly, I got a place a county over from her (about a 30-40 minute drive from her mom's place to mine) and we felt secure enough in our relationship at the time that it just made sense. She was looking like she had a job lined up, so she moved in, got the job, and everything was supposed to go great. And it was, for a week or two. Then...trouble started.

I can't remember exactly what the first red flag was, but the person that moved in to my one bedroom apartment with my two cats is not the same person I started dating at the end of last year. I can never do anything right by her, she has literally deleted my instagram account, forced my hand on exchanging facebook and phone passwords (which she goes through daily...and she has blocked every female I have ever had a flirtatious conversation with. Ever), and basically keeps tabs on where I am and where I go. She "allows" me to do things. When I say "allows", I mean it literally. She "allows" me to watch the Panthers game on Sundays. Meaning, as soon as the clock hits 0:00 in the 4th, she takes the remote and says I'm done watching football. She "allows" me to watch what I want, meaning she will demand we watch something we both (read: she) like. I work 3rd shift. I get off at 6 AM. She goes to work at 7. I get up at 2 PM for the gym before work again at 6 PM. Gets me an even 8 hours. Perfect, right? Great schedule. Well, not for her. I am not allowed to go to sleep when I get off until she leaves for work. Her lunch break is at 12 and we live less than a mile from her office. She comes home and wakes me up. If I go to sleep before she leaves or refuse to get up at 12, it's an argument. Every time. If I'm off work and not home when she gets home, it's an argument. I went to the gym late one day because I slept till 4 (worked OT plus a weekend rotation, so I was in a sleep deficit). She gets home, notices I'm gone, calls and flips her lid over me not being there. I explained where I was and that I would be home soon...and she spends the rest of the evening doubting that I was at the gym, insisting I was out getting strange.

Bear in mind, she has not helped with a single bill nor has she helped with rent. She makes decent enough money to be able to split bills halfway and still have just over half of her monthly income leftover (I make about twice as much as she does, but I'm paying for everything, so I end up with a few hundred at the end of the month, if I'm lucky and frugal),  She does not help with basic household chores and refuses to get up and get her own stuff done (I go out to buy her smokes, to get her food, to do anything, really). She asks me to do something, I do it. Why? Because I love her and I've been raised to try to make the person you're with feel like you're there for them and do little favors like that. I didn't realize how much this enabled the behavior.

My closest friend pointed out towards the beginning of this that the relationship is toxic and I should get out. Since then, others have said the same, including mutual friends that we've made while together who are pretty objective on the matter. It has come to a head. Until tonight, I just didn't really grasp it. I've been feeling doubt and guilt for stuff that I shouldn't because she is THAT good at it.

So, the reason I am posting this. How do I go about getting out of this? I suck at cutting people out of my life. When I care about somebody, letting go is tough. I don't know how to tell somebody that they have crushed my spirit and have made me miserable when they are extremely dependent on me for their own happiness and to boost their terrible self-worth and whatnot.

We're playing a Jameis Winston lead Bucs team. What idiot would pick TB over us, given how the season has unfolded thus far? How is this a surprise?

  14. lightsout added a post in a topic Anyone have a home gym?

It all depends on goals and time. There's ALWAYS time to work out, even if it means biting the bullet and bringing the gym to your house.

I don't have a home gym, but if I did, there would be a few necessities for what I do.

A bench with six 45 lb plates, two 35 lb plates, two 25s, four 10s, and four 5s. (additional 45 lb plates as needed over time)
    An e-z curl bar
A separate Olympic bar (45 lb bar) for deadlifts/cleans
Some form of squat rack (my buddy built his own and it's solid. did it fairly cheap too)
A full set of dumbbells that go from 15 lb to 70 lb
A pulley machine for lat pulldowns and tri pushdowns (can find these used for fairly cheap as well)

Just for the type of strength lifting I do, I'd need this in a home gym. Obviously, it'd be a slow process getting all of it, because it would get expensive. I'd also have to have a room big enough or a garage I didn't use.

I don't like the machines that use weighted cables as much as the pulley machines with a stack of plates. I don't know why. Just something about it I don't like.

Dear god these things never fail.

I read them in this voice in my head that I can't really pin. I think there's a comedian I've heard that has that ranting style delivery that fits with SCP's posts, but good lord it's amazing.
