  1. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

First words out of my mouth were, "what the fug?"
  2. true, but I would have played hard ball longer with norman, and not of rescinded the tag, basically play here and get paid well for a year or receive neither he would have signed.
  3. Ever seen a contract negociation with the Franchise Tag before? players usually dont sign till training camp so they dont have to show up to OTA's. very common for players to wait till the last minute to sign the tag, JPP with the giants was doing the same thing before he blew his hand up tho.
  4. I feel like I'm breaking this down for the 100th time, it got so bad in a few threads of me repeating myself I just stopped replying. But with all that said...... Noone of any significance had a contract up this season(2016-2017) besides Norman.Every other core/important player was already under contract for next year.Meaning, we don't have to pay them till next year. We had plenty of money and time to play hardball with norman and could have easily forced him to sign the Franchise Tender which word is now he was willing to do. And with the least of the dead money and bad contracts coming off our books next year we would still have no problem signing any of our other core players next year. God I feel like the only person on here at times who has everpaid any attention to offseason contract negotiations before. someone in another thread when I told them this, told me the panthers rescinded the offer because they never had budgeted Normans tag into this seasons salary cap......
  5. said it before and I'll say it again, this was a dumb move by DG. made no sense on any level.
  6. my point was tho that they while grossly underpaid(Norwell $600k, short $1.2m), those players are still under contract for the 2016-2017 season. just saying we totally could have forced Norman's hand withlittle repercussions, would have sucked for Norman but I dont feel bad for millionaires that make more money in a single year then I will see in my lifetime
  7. Best thing I've seen in a while!
  8. Gettlemen offered Norman just above 10 mill per season

I'd be a greedy mofo too if someone was going to offer me $75m, or $31m more then the panthers, I might be going somewhere that I won't have a shot at a super bowl this season, but I could dry those tears of sadness with a hell of a lot of money. I don't blame josh one bit, as GM looking out for the panthers though I'd tell him sign or play with a tag your choice.
  9. Allthat sounds good till you realize those core players contracts don't come up till next year. So why not have Norman for 1 more year. Norman was the only important/core player who's contract came up this year.
  10. How? outside of doing Josh Norman a solid the only person who won in this situation was Norman. DG's job is to field the best team he can year in and year out, 1 more year of norman on the tag is better than no norman at all. Our defense is worse then it was last year because of this, you never want to be going backwards in the NFL. I do congratulate Norman on getting the contract he wanted. and he does deserve the contract he recieved he gave carolina 2 very good years playing for pretty much peanuts
  11. I Don't Get The Celebration Here...

I've stated on here before that sometimes I feel like I'm one of the few members on here who has been cursed witha memory that goes back further then last season. This has been a huge mistake by DG, we just went from having a game breaker at every level of the defense, (Short/Ealy, Luke/Davis, Norman) to none in the secondary. there isnt anyone back there that opposing teams have to fear. Now I like BB as much as the next guy and believe his productionand contributions to the team were very underrated last year. but he's not Norman. The franchise tag is for 2 reasons, 1. Being that you tag a player till you can get a long term contract worked out. and2. Is for the event that you cant get one worked out you still have him for another year.Over my nearly 15 years of closely following football I've watched many Franchise tags and hard ball negotiations that followed. In some the player folds at the last minute, and others they work it out, and of course sometimes they dont. that happens tho. As far as Norman not signing his tender to this point or going to OTA's? That's very normal for Franchise tagged players to do that. he doesnt have to sign before a certain date and is under no contract obligations to show up to OTA's before he signs. Why show up to extra practices if you dont have too? a lot of players already do not like OTA's especially considering they still have Training camp ahead of themselves. so this is a bunch to do about nothing and no reason to rescind the offer. so my two main thoughts are 1. Are we a better team without norman? answer is easily no. Did we rescind the offer because we couldnt afford him? all of our other major players contracts that arecome up, are coming up next year, not this year. and we have the cap space for Norman now. So why not just leave the tag on him and make him play this year? he wont be happy but he'll still play. he's played for peanuts compared to what he should have been making for a few years now. If Norman by some miracle resigns with the panthers I will sing DG's praises till the day I die, but seriously dont see how this move does anything but hurt the panthers going into next season, and that's why this is a terrible move

    wow! shocked..
  13. Josh Norman to Redskins or 49ers by Friday

ah ok, I'd find it hard to turn down a longer but equally lucrative contract, especially with his age he would have retired after that and contract was up and very well off. I hope he can still find a way to come back, but we will see.
  14. Josh Norman to Redskins or 49ers by Friday

I curious any official word on what the panthers offered him??
  15. Panthers rescind Norman's franchise tag...

This was my thought, I can't imagine he just completely cut him
