  1. Sorry. Gettlemens Draft This Year Blows

I think the DT butler pick is bad because we dont need a DT half as bad as a DE. nothing against the player we just had bigger areas of need.
  2. In case you lost count....

wouldnt mind seeing McClain come back
  3. Perception and the Draft

I'm of the opinion that outside of rare circumstances big payday FA's are a waste of money, much better value and reliability from mid tier FA's.
  4. Perception and the Draft

I think you could sum up the Panthers Personnel Policy very simply Go Big or Go Home. Godfather likes his players, a stout DT, and two 6'1 CB's in the first 3 rounds of the draft. I would have much Rather seen us draft Either Dodd or Ogbah then Butler, not saying that we Butler is a bad pick more of saying I thought there were better options available.
  5. Love the picks!

I like the back 2 back CB picks, fills a immediate need, the DT Butler though is a whole different story. Butler may be a good DT, but with Dodd and Ogbah left on the table I can't help but feel we could have done better. especially considering I think DE is clearly a bigger need heading into the draft. I honestly cant believe we just left Ogbah up there.
  6. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

First words out of my mouth were, "what the fug?"
  7. true, but I would have played hard ball longer with norman, and not of rescinded the tag, basically play here and get paid well for a year or receive neither he would have signed.
  8. Ever seen a contract negociation with the Franchise Tag before? players usually dont sign till training camp so they dont have to show up to OTA's. very common for players to wait till the last minute to sign the tag, JPP with the giants was doing the same thing before he blew his hand up tho.
  9. I feel like I'm breaking this down for the 100th time, it got so bad in a few threads of me repeating myself I just stopped replying. But with all that said...... Noone of any significance had a contract up this season(2016-2017) besides Norman.Every other core/important player was already under contract for next year.Meaning, we don't have to pay them till next year. We had plenty of money and time to play hardball with norman and could have easily forced him to sign the Franchise Tender which word is now he was willing to do. And with the least of the dead money and bad contracts coming off our books next year we would still have no problem signing any of our other core players next year. God I feel like the only person on here at times who has everpaid any attention to offseason contract negotiations before. someone in another thread when I told them this, told me the panthers rescinded the offer because they never had budgeted Normans tag into this seasons salary cap......
  10. said it before and I'll say it again, this was a dumb move by DG. made no sense on any level.
  11. my point was tho that they while grossly underpaid(Norwell $600k, short $1.2m), those players are still under contract for the 2016-2017 season. just saying we totally could have forced Norman's hand withlittle repercussions, would have sucked for Norman but I dont feel bad for millionaires that make more money in a single year then I will see in my lifetime
  12. Best thing I've seen in a while!
  13. Gettlemen offered Norman just above 10 mill per season

I'd be a greedy mofo too if someone was going to offer me $75m, or $31m more then the panthers, I might be going somewhere that I won't have a shot at a super bowl this season, but I could dry those tears of sadness with a hell of a lot of money. I don't blame josh one bit, as GM looking out for the panthers though I'd tell him sign or play with a tag your choice.
  14. Allthat sounds good till you realize those core players contracts don't come up till next year. So why not have Norman for 1 more year. Norman was the only important/core player who's contract came up this year.
  15. How? outside of doing Josh Norman a solid the only person who won in this situation was Norman. DG's job is to field the best team he can year in and year out, 1 more year of norman on the tag is better than no norman at all. Our defense is worse then it was last year because of this, you never want to be going backwards in the NFL. I do congratulate Norman on getting the contract he wanted. and he does deserve the contract he recieved he gave carolina 2 very good years playing for pretty much peanuts
