this universe: https://web.archive.org/web/20090430143817/http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com:80/2009/football/nfl/draft-2009/04/28/2010/index.html unless SI was just pulling a late april fools prank he was considered a first round prospect prior to his senior year but fell due to injuries and concerns about effort plus his weak combine. so yeah, he was considered a first round talent that fell into hurney's lap and the fan expectations bore that out. at this point though it's pretty much my word versus yours and i'm about to drop it because this isn't going anywhere.

the point was that hardy wasn't some marginal throwaway pick who happened to turn into an all pro which is what i felt like you were implying. him and ealy had similar pedigrees, but as was pointed out hardy fell for effort and character reasons. his physical gifts were never, ever in doubt. and you either weren't here or weren't paying attention in 2010/11/12 because there were high expectations for hardy at least in this fan base. it was commonly understood that he was a first round talent. i'm not suggesting that ealy is going to be an all pro, i'm saying there are numerous examples all over the league including a few you should be intimately familiar with as a panthers fan that had a similar trajectory. as foolish as it is to hitch your wagon to him it's equally foolhardy to think he's developing particularly slowly.
  12. Kony is turned loose.

sports illustrated projected hardy as the number one overall pick at one point so your pointing out that he was a 6th rounder doesn't do anything for me. hardy didn't get the same amount of snaps as ealy when? ealy got 363 snaps as a rookie which was fewer than charles johnson, horton, and addison. he wasn't a starter by any means if that's what you're trying to imply. hardy didn't start as a rookie but i doubt he was all the way down the depth chart as the number four DE and even if he was then the comparison is still fair because they'd be equivalent. i can't find snap counts going back that far but by 2011 i believe hardy was a full time starter opposite charles johnson. i checked the 2011 roster and we had absolute balls at DE behind CJ and hardy so i'm going to go with that assumption. ealy got the second most snaps behind kawann short in his second year so the same is true of him plus he actually put up one more sack than hardy did in year two. he may have had more snaps but the starter designation is more important unless the numbers are way far apart. so yeah i think it's fair to compare their careers so far.
  13. Kony is turned loose.

ealy has shown sparks. he had a sack in three straight games to end his rookie year, a streak of five games with a sack in 2015, and of course we all saw the super bowl. yes he's inconsistent but i think you're really reaching hard to make it seem like his development is unusually slow or something. miller and peppers were straight freaks who basically entered the league playing at a pro bowl level so i don't think that's a fair comparison. there are a bunch of different ways to get to the level of an elite pass rusher and it isn't as if guys that come in setting the league on fire have a ceiling of 30 sacks whereas everyone else maxes out at like 15. ealy's development seems to be on a curve that's similar to what we saw out of greg hardy before he exploded in 2012 and 2013.
  14. Falcons Fans: Carolina Gets It

the falcons had five straight winning seasons and four playoff appearances including two top seeds and won one, meaning singular, playoff game so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  15. Falcons Fans: Carolina Gets It

now there are many things that make the huddle unique. but, as you can see based on the banter in that thread, the "well if you like x team's move so much why don't you go root for them assmunch" back-and-forth isn't one of them
