  1. Devin Funchess Rookie Highlights Video

So long as they can beat press coverage and physical corner play like we saw from Denver.  I'm really looking for some creativity in our passing calls next year. We have so many big bodies!  Are these the hog mollies Dave was looking for?
  2. Archie Manning Defends Cam

This is simply a reflection on a simple fact:  We have one of the most interesting players in the world on our team.  This story won't die for a while because it's Cam.  He's a lightning rod for the media.  They will keep kicking until he starts winning again.
  3. Cam Newton and the Burden of History

I feel the same way, but that's my personal bias leaking in!  I have no problems just being a dude who loves being a dad and generally enjoy my work.  Remember, Cam mentioned wanted to be an icon, but I'm not sure he wanted this.
  4. Cam Newton and the Burden of History

I didn't get asked. Very interesting read regarding the profile of Cam Newton in the racial charged times we live in.  It feels a little sensationalizing, but the point is very interesting none-the-less.  I say sensationalizing because I question how cultural Cam Newton is.  I mean, I know he's a big football deal, and he is our beloved QB, but the world is a lot wider, social issues much deeper, and stuff just plainly more complicated. For better or worse, Cam is going to be assigned this ambassador role to the world.  Many of us will be there to support him in this role as well as his current role, but man, I do not envy him at all (except for the abs...).
  5. Cam's Response To PantherNation

Cam can only give that smiling, one line response when properly surrounded by the media!  Duh!  Had he only known to do that instead! The Media (Voth included) are going to play the negative Cam angle as long as it still gets them clicks.
  6. Cam's Response To PantherNation

I was thinking the same thing....I didn't write anything like that when I was 26....then again I was never anything special ;)
  7. Cap Casualties - Top 25

Who said "all the FAs?"  I'm with that idiot! =P Kalil is only interesting from the family name, and that he was highly drafted.  Could it work?  Maybe.  But as @Bartin said, there's just too much cap money for someone not to give him a contract to see what he can do.  Now if he get's cut a year later (a la Oher), we're game!
  8. Man, I hope Kony Ealy is our next beast pass rusher =)  That would be pretty awesome, and we need it!
  9. http://overthecap.com/player/thomas-davis/1195 And absolutely nothing else online about his contract being voided.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's fine.
  10. What's funny, when you look at all of @KB_fan's wonderful spreadsheets, I kind of see something: NO Super glaring holes.  Instead, we have several small and medium sized holes.  Got to give Gettleman credit how he builds a roster.  He'll go through the FA list and pluck out a few guys who can come in and contribute.  The worst spot is DE, but even then we have some flexibility with Johnson.  I'm pretty sure Johnson will restructure/extend for a Super Bowl chance.  I think having a team that can beat anyone is going to be quite attractive for many FAs. This will be an interesting off season and draft, for sure!
  11. NFL Turning Point: The Clete Blakeman Effect

Dude....chill... Remember, this is all the big set up!  Next season we're going to win the Superb Owl because it will complete our and Cam's story arc about redemption.  Then he'll be old enough to get the calls!  Then he won't just be some crazy kids, instead he'll be a fiery competitor who take losing personally!
  12. We need a DE... so whom?

What do y'all think about Corey Wootten of the Detroit Lions? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/historical/565129 There's his draft profile. http://www.nfl.com/player/coreywootton/496883/profile His current stats. I remember him being talked up during the draft years ago.  He's had a fairly unspectacular career, but has some physical ability.  Not sure about his injury history other than he had a bunch in college. This could be one of those under the radar kind of Gettlemand guys.
  13. I disagree.  While he has had a history of injuries (I would not call him soft), his cap his isn't going to allow us to cut him for at least one more year.  Also, he was very productive when he could play this year, even earning a pro-bowl nod (whatever you think on the glorified touch game that it was).  Stewart still has the power and quickness (if not his 21 year old self speed) to make our read option attack work, break tackles and move the ball effectively for us.  We'll have to ride him for one more year. Find a suitable replacement might be a big of a challenge.  While there is no shortage of young running backs who have played in read-option games, finding one as a replacement, starter level talent isn't going to be easy.  Hence, we are going to have to see about CAP/Weiger and whoever else we can pick up this off season.
  14. Can we drop the issue?  I mean it feels like we're arguing which of your kids is uglier.  (Sorry little Tim Bobby, the 3rd ear on your chin does it!) The fact is, he didn't dive on it.  We can all think what we want, but at the end of the day, do you think Cam makes the same mistake again?  I don't think so.  I'm pretty sure that the Panthers know who Cam is when they signed him to his contract.  It was a bad play in a terrible game.
  15. Dude @KB_fan, stop having so much fun with spreadsheets!!! It's going to be very interesting to see how Gettleman addresses FA for us.  We all know he likes to set up FA to pick the best draft picks. I think we'll bring in some of these unknown, unspectacular DEs.  Maybe some kids who were drafted high, but never panned out in other teams.  Same for CBs. I think one of the most important areas for us to improve in is the Special Teams coverage.  We haven't had a kick off return or punt return for a TD in a LONG TIME.  I mean, Philly's TD was kind of a completely broken play.  Other wise, we seem to allow a lot more returns for yardage than we get.  That's a big issue.
