I've noticed a trend when we used 2 back sets( 1st string offense )8 in the box overpowers our line and lead back nearly every time. Rare success can be found when you sneak in a handoff to would be lead blocker if goal is to get short gain without much potential to break it.
Adversely when we spread the D's out with a 1 back set it gives the backs more room to be creative and adjust if the lines blocking doesn't hold up.

I'm not holding my breath for anything but length of contract is irrelevant as we wouldn't be responsible for any previously guaranteed money(the team that cuts them has to eat it as dead money). So if someone has a 3 or even 10 year contract from someone else and we scoop them on waivers we can cut them at our diescretion without having to worry about cap penalties.

I'd bet money over 75% can't name their starting o-line.

I agree 100%. Just saying he can step in if necessary, thus eliminating need for more than 5 corners.

Not directly related to the OP but..
With the coverage skills he showed ( can play all 3 downs) and Colin Jones ability to play slot, I can't see more than 5 Corners this year.

Isn't this because Kalil is out for the rest of preseason? I wonder if Remmers is versatile enough to play LG too. If he's better than Norwell then let's make the change now

honestly I don't think there is. Hating that pick and player may be the only time 100% of the huddle agreed

Jimmy Clausen was my biggest whiff so far. I don't know if anyone on here was excited about him as I was. I held out hope for most of that season and blamed most everyone but him.

Yes. 100%. Great if you like going back and seeing individual performances and see what went right/wrong on each play. Basically a way to dissect the games at your leisure. Much better than just the tv angles that only follow the ball. This gives you a better glimpse of the whole field and allows you to see what everyone is doing.

Thanks. So whether its his fault or the lines fault or a combo he appears no longer useful in short yardage situations. He grades out negatively on pass and run protection. He has the 8th highest cap hit on the team, we have to the most cap space to gain by cutting him over any other player. I'd love for someone to provide a legit argument as to why he belongs on this team.

Can you look up Tolbert's pass blocking efficiency for last season and this preseason?

As stated above Remmers took snaps under center. Chris Scott did as well against Miami and did not look as good as Remmers or Folkerts. So the only problem I see with dropping Folkerts ia what happens if Kalil and Remmers both go down? I didnt like what I saw of Scott at Center, so this may save Folkerts, may not.

The huddle actually seems split. In Zod's youth movement roster, looked like everyone on there was all for dumping him. When I made this thread to illustrate his decline started last year, most oppose the idea of dropping him.
Personally I have my doubts he will get cut. I just see him as being overpaid and no longer capable of doing what we ask of him. Some is his own decline, some is our o-line really was horrible at getting any push up the middle. The way I see it is regardless of why he's not performing up to his contract is not as important as the fact that he is not.

Now that we can agree on. I have a huge disdain for Brockel wasting a spot, him and Nate Chandler. These guys need to go way before Tolbert.
