  1. Defensive Player of the Year odds

This. Star is a very good DT, but he's absolutely not the type of player who will ever be in the DPOY discussion. He's the guy in the DL who does the dirty work, he's not the guy who puts up the gaudy stats.
  2. Ronald Leary wants out of Dallas

He wants out of Dallas because he isn't starting. He wouldn't start here either. Our starting OGs are set. Wouldn't mind some competition at OT, but any interior OL are gonna be competing for reserve roles.
  3. Titans 2nd rounder Kevin Dodd has foot surgery

The 3-4 OLB position is a little different animal. It's really a OLB/DE hybrid position that doesn't have a direct comparison in the 4-3. But, 270+ is still a really big 3-4 OLB. They're usually in the 250-260 range. Basically big for a LB but a little light for a DE.
  4. Titans 2nd rounder Kevin Dodd has foot surgery

This. Not every 4-3 DE can make the conversion just like not ever 3-4 OLB could. Von Miller is a beast of a 3-4 OLB but he'd get the ball ran down his throat as a 4-3 DE. Dodd and Smith seem to me like guys who are tailor made 4-3 DEs. Both of those dudes are 6'4"+ 270+. That's HUGE for a 3-4 OLB.
  5. Titans 2nd rounder Kevin Dodd has foot surgery

Shocked me when the Redskins did that with Preston Smith last year too. Seems like two prototype 4-3 DEs playing out of position but what do I know.
  6. Cam was the best for sure. No knock on Smitty, he was a huge steal, but taking having the #1 overall pick and taking a franchise QB there is monumentally more important. That's a franchise shifting moment. Peter sucked, but no pick will ever be worse than that asshole WR sitting in prison. Waste of a 1st round pick AND a PR disaster. Tough to get worse than that.
  7. Sports Illustrated ranks their 50 fittest athletes

Agreed. My issue with the list is that there's no real criteria for it. It's basically just a random list of 50 guys who they think are in great shape even for a pro athlete. Virtually every pro athlete cross trains to a certain extent. That's not a real criteria.

Not a chance. I went to HS with a few high level D1 recruits. I was a pretty good athlete myself, certainly above average. Those dudes made me look like I was trying to move in quicksand. There was absolutely nothing I could do to close that genetic gap. It sucks to accept, but it's the truth. Same as the dominant college player who has marginal size and below average athleticism. WFU LB Jon Abbate comes to mind immediately. Great college player. ACC DPOY. But, he was under 6' and couldn't even break the 5 second barrier in the 40. Despite being a very intelligent player and very fundamentally sound, he's just not an NFL player. That takes nothing away from him being a great college player, but he's not playing in the NFL. He hit his ceiling. There was nothing he could do to make up for the fact that he had neither NFL size nor athleticism.

And genetics. Don't forget genetics. Sure, pro athletes work hard and that shouldn't be downplayed, but the average Joe could work as hard as humanly possible and still never be a pro level athlete. Go slap mom and dad for that one.
  10. Come out of your stretch like a MVP

Hot yoga is brilliant. You know some yoga studio was tired of paying some high ass electric bills to keep that AC cranking in the summer and then was like, "LOL! I got an idea..."
  11. Hope to see Short retained, but if it means a Suh contract we just can't do that. I'd rather see him elsewhere than see us give a DT that type of hamstringing money. My concern is that if we don't get him locked up this offseason and he has another double digit sack season, someone will be willing to give him Suh money. Then again, Gettleman values DT >>>>> CB and might be willing to keep Short with the tag. Meh, all things considered, way too early to worry about that stuff yet, but it's May and ain't a damn thing else to talk about.
  12. Carolina Panthers OTA Notes and Photos

yours will be shitted, mine will be tented
  13. I don't have much respect for her coaches for allowing her to continue.
  14. Sooners reporter talks Williams, Sanchez

Honestly though, we don't need competition along the OL like we do at WR. I'm just fine with Oher at LT, Kalil at center, and Turner and Norwell at OG. I'd just like to see RT upgraded. If we can't upgrade at RT, then Shula just has to get better at compensating for our weakness there when we face good speed rushers. I would do hope to see some competition for the backup positions though. If Oher gets hurt... oh wee mayne. He may not be an elite LT, but he's the only competent LT we have.
