  1. REPORT: Panthers considering TE Jerrell Adams in 3rd

oh hayell no. I wouldn't want him in the 5th. maaaaaybe the 7th.
  2. Worse. At least Vaccaro was supposedly the best, or at least second best, Safety in that draft. Neal isn't even in the top 3.
  3. Vernon Butler was already a Panthers fan

I'm not a huge fan of the pick, but I don't hate it. With that said, at least we got someone with good taste :)
  4. Top 30 players left after Round 1

If we can get three players from this list (without double dipping position), no matter how it's done, I'll be ecstatic about this draft:. H Henry, Hooper, Ogbah, Dodd, Shephard, Fuller, H Miller, Booker, A Collins.
  5. A trade I'd like to see tomorrow

The Eagles traded next year's comp pick in the package to move to #2. You trade the comp pick with a contingency in place if you don't get the pick you expect to.
  6. A trade I'd like to see tomorrow

Nothing about what I typed said trade up for the sake of trading up. I'm in fact interested in specific players because they can actually have early impact. I personally think Dodd, Ogbah or HHenry are easily worth first round picks. Maybe Gettleman does too, he just liked Butler even more. I'd be fine with just doing it like last year two, but the thought just occurred to me that we could get two mid round 2nds and keep our other rounds' picks while not giving up that much from what I assume our draft spot will be next year. If we pick 30 again, for example, and trade that one and our #62 for the Titans' second two 2nds (44 and 45 if I'm not mistaken? Somewhere around there) the overall draft positions are almost the same. 89 to 92, slightly in our favor.
  7. Carolina Panthers select DT Vernon Butler

I don't see us switching to a 3-4, but honestly we have the personnel for it. It would just miscast some of our current players. Starting DL of Short - Star - Butler with CJ and/or Kony rotating in at DE on passing downs. Addison actually has a way to contribute more meaningfully at OLB. Luke and TD at MLB (though TD is small for that role). Delaire rotating at OLB. CJ at OLB on running downs (he's played in a 2pt and in coverage a number of times for us). Biggest problems are Kony doesn't have much of a role here and Shaq has pretty much none. Could maybe try to switch him to SS. So no, I don't see it happening at all, but it would be possible.
  8. First of all, no I typically don't like trading a future first for a current second. However I think with the players left on the board and assuming we'll be picking around #32 next year (or at worst in the last 4 picks), I think that sort of trade makes sense for tomorrow. If we can trade next year's first for an early 2nd (like top 5) then I'd be satisfied there. Still happy if we can get Ogbah, Dodd or HHenry in the middle by trading next year's first. Here's I go off the rails a little. What I'd REALLY like to see is, assuming one of the three mentioned above is available, trading next year's first and our second to the Titans for their two middle seconds. I kinda doubt the value makes it realistic, basically saying our next year first is worth more than their middle second round pick enough to also swap our second with their third second, but if it could work out that could be great. If we could somehow land Ogbah or Dodd AND HHenry that would be outstanding. Assuming two of those three players aren't available, then getting one of the DEs plus a player like Shephard or another offensive player that wouldn't likely be available at #62 would also be nice.

We already had interior rush. We don't have much outside rush. I mean look no further than the fact that our leading sacker was a DT and he had more than any other two players combined...maybe any three others combined. I'd have to check on that.

Last year's picks had literally almost nothing to do with our season. They were the very antithesis of impactful picks. Shaq had a couple plays over the course of the season but did very little overall. Funchess had a few decent catches late in the season but an overall net impact of zero at best considering all the terrible plays and drops. Williams didn't play. CAP had a pretty bad start to his career. Nice preseason but that was it. I haven't given up hope in Shaq, I saw the potential to maybe become a good football player eventually but he isn't one yet. Funchess, I just hope he turns into a serviceable rotational/big package player. Williams is the only pick I really liked at the time, and I really hope he can take that RT spot. CAP I sorta liked at the time, had other RB preferences but saw potential, and after seeing his first year I'm just hoping he turns into a serviceable RB2.

I kinda hope we trade our first next year for a mid 2nd tomorrow. We're gonna have a late pick anyway, the difference won't be much. Maybe with one of the Titans mid picks. Take Dodd, Ogbah or H Henry there and a secondary player with our own 2nd.

I'll say the same thing I said when we took Luke. I'm not saying he won't be a good player, but GD we had better options. Hopefully I'm wrong again, but last time we had an injured Beason who left shortly after the pick. And this rotation talk? Are we cutting Soliai or Love? We need 5 starter quality DTs when we have AT MOST two DEs that could start for any team in the league? One of whom isn't getting any younger and we were willing to let walk if he didn't come back for peanuts. I desperately hope we trade back up for Ogbah, Dodd or H Henry. That will salvage this for me.
  13. 2016 NFL DRAFT GENERAL CHATTER SUPER FUN TIME

It's because we only have 1.5 WRs that defenses have to think about at all (KB and Ginn).
