  1. Defense plays well, we win. Doesn't play well, we lose.
  2. And most Dallas fans can't find Dallas on a map. They still have a larger fan base than NE does. Of course, they are also the most hated team in the NFL. Which is why they are on tv so much. Viewers want them to see them lose or win.
  3. In theory, we should beat them. Both offenses are unknown at this point, but we are at home, and we have the better defense. But so often these preseason predictions are meaningless.

Trump making an ass of himself at NATO

The reality show clown's interest is the reality show clown. Nothing else. All one has to do is take an objective look at Trump over the years. I realize objective is a lot to ask for these days, but I do think it is a necessity when deciding who to vote for. I remember when republicans attacked John Kerry as a flip flopper. Trump not only flip flops, he somersaults. All one has to do is look at Trump's own words. In the 80's, he was a republican. In the 90's and early 2000's, a democrat. Then a independent, and now a republican. He goes whichever way the wind blows. In the 90's, he was strongly pro abortion rights. Now he is adamantly against against abortion rights. In the 90's, he supported an assault weapons ban. Now he is against it. Trump's political affiliation has changed often. Trump had Hillary Clinton at his 2005 wedding. If you feed his ego, he supports you. Dare criticise him over something relatively minor, and you get treated worse than a brutal dictator.

Trump making an ass of himself at NATO

I wonder if the Pentagon and State Department have teams whose job is to fix things when Trump says something stupid? Sounds like a full time job to me.

Thread title had me worried he was in some real trouble. Glad its something that has zero impact on the team.

If it happens, great. But his comments remind me a little of this.

NK Increasing Nuke Production: Sleep Tight!

Fwiw, Trump did accomplish one thing at least. Getting the remains of some of the soldiers that died in Korea home. That is probably a big deal for some of the families. Doesn't justify paying compliments to a guy who is in charge of a regime that brutalizes its and a few of our citizens, while at the same time, accusing Canada of stabbing us in the back. But at least it is something. But there haven't been and probably never will be, any move towards denuclearization. In some ways, Trump is a little like Neville Chamberlain in this case. Well except that NK is not the threak Germany was. And Neville Chamberlain got fooled because he genuinely wanted peace, while Trump got fooled because of his ego.

    No UDFA Hype this year

Not really. Getting off to a bad start doesn't mean we are in trouble for the season, just like getting off to a great start doesn't mean we will be great the whole season. Players will get injured, rookies will improve, new players might be brought in. The team will change as the season rolls along, just like it did last year and pretty much every year.
  11. When my wife immigrated to the US from one of those poor countries, she was under the impression she would be rich. She quickly learned that narrative was false. She had she had seen to much television. She told me, Americans are not that much richer, they are just in more debt. The difference for her was that her home country had a 40% unemployment rate. Jobs were impossible to get, and you held on to one for dear life when you got it. Probably why in 20 years, she has missed two sick days, total. Can't get over that fear of losing her job, even though she is one of the best employees they have.

Man stabs multiple children in an apartment for refugees

It use to have some rational discussion, but the tinderbox has over the years become a place for both sides to trade insults and barbs with actual discussions and give and take going away. I suppose in that way, it is following the national trend.

Man stabs multiple children in an apartment for refugees

Not sure why you felt the need to bring her up in this thread, but for the record, she is mostly irrelevant. Or was, until Trump made her relevant.

Man stabs multiple children in an apartment for refugees

3 year old birthday girl among the victims. Mental illness is a serious problem. I know of a girl right now, who needs help, has violent tendencies, and should be in a facility. But no one has the authority or the backbone to deal with her.

NK Increasing Nuke Production: Sleep Tight!

Or Trump realizes nothing will come of it except for giving him a chance to stroke his own ego, and that is all that really matters to him.
  16. In before locked. Good for him, instead of yammering about it on social media, he is actually doing something productive. Something both sides should take note of.
  17. Keyshawn seemed like he was hard to get along with, and made to many demands. But I don't remember him ever being accused of groping anyone.
  18. Lawsuit which might drag out for years even if the league has the upper hand. Given his age, might be a losing proposition for the league. Maybe his estate would pay eventually, but it would mean that he wouldn't. Of course, for all we know about the process, he might have had to pay a deposit, or something like a deposit. And the league just deducts the fine out of that.
  19. Not saying he won't pay it, but if he doesn't pay it, what are they going to do? Unless its a situation where Tepper cuts the league a check, and then they cut Richardson one, minus the fine.
  20. Public shame is worse for him than any fine they could possibly levy

A "Civil" war or a Civil War

I believe its wrong not to look at the past when discussing the future. As the saying goes, there is nothing new under the sun. Mostly just new ways of doing the same old thing. There have been a lot of prior ones of all different shapes and sizes. Its likely going to be like one of the previous ones. But all of them have one thing in common. Killing each other. If you are talking about a Civil War that doesn't involve people killing each other, but then it's not actually a war. Unless of course, its one of those political things like the War on Drugs, Christmas, Poverty etc.... Some of what you say is true, it's getting harder to match jobs to people. In fact, there is a shortage of tech workers in the US, which is why we see so many from India and other places coming in. But we also have a declining birth rate, which will offset some of the problems. As far living in desperate situations, you are right, I never have, well at least not when I was old enough to remember. My mom did when I was young, although things eventually got better. But the US went thru the great depression with no civil wars or uprisings. Of course, people were tougher then, so maybe if people went from Starbucks and cell phones to desperation and poverty, they might blame someone else and be willing to start fighting. But IMO, it would take more than 20% of the population being truly desperate before we would even begin to see a move towards some sort of armed conflict.

A "Civil" war or a Civil War

No civil war in history has easily occurred, at least not in a first world country. If you look at the history of Civil War since WWII, almost without fail, they have occurred in countries with extreme poverty and repression. And regardless of what some people think, that is not the US, nor is it likely to be anytime soon. And in war, people are killed. And ones life is a lot to lose.

A "Civil" war or a Civil War

I don't think we are on the verge of Civil World, except perhaps in social media world. It would be hard for our modern society to have a civil war. They would probably have to go outside at some point. Might even have to give up cell phones and internet access. One thing I have noticed is that the vast majority of people who talk about these sorts of things have never actually been in a real war. Maybe a handful have been in Afghanistan or Iraq, but most have never seen the destruction such things do to a society. Are the arguments over health care, or how many guns one can own, or even immigration, really worth a war that could devastate our nation for decades as the last civil war did? Or given that today's weapons are far more destructive than cannon and muskets, maybe even end our nation as we know it. The comfort and ease of life we have now is unprecedented in the history of the world. I find it amazing that anyone would be willing to give up their life simply because of some political ideology that most of them don't understand anyway.

    McCaffrey will disappoint this year

It really shouldn't be about total yards. Efficiency is more important. If he gets fewer yards, but has a higher average yards per catch or carry, then he is not disappointing.
