I've watched plenty of Shula's offense and if you think this is mostly players fault well I can't say much about that. But the fact remains this offense has been ranked pretty low the past couple of seasons. Garbage time scoring doesn't count either. I am in agreement that play execution plays a huge part but in what point of time will the vanilla plays be to blame? If we're predictable on 1-10. When you throw a bubble screen to slow receivers. That's design my friend. Not player execution. The player can only execute to his attributes, if you throw that screen to cotchery, don't expect a huge gain. "Oh he didn't execute it right, he didn't get the first down!" when he started 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage on 3-15. The play calls and designs of said plays are that of a 5 year old. Panthers fans can't say they haven't said outloud what the play was before it was even snapped. But yeah, the annexation of Puerto Rico was pretty good. I'll give him that.
They're catering to Cam's skill set which is awesome. You will still need that shifty wide out with amazing speed. Ginn is the poster child for that, but he's getting long in the tooth. Byrd, Brown, X player needs to be that guy after he's gone.
As far as Tall, huge catch radius, wideouts, I think we're good when KB comes back. I think it's time to draft a T.Y Hilton/Brandin Cooks type of player in the future. That's my opinion though.
Oh it's not that I'm not getting behind this guy. I'm just saying it was not a proper comparison.
I did some research yesterday and apparently he's 6'2, ran a 4.4, has 10" hands. Those are great measureables including the traits you mentioned. I also saw some highlights and he seems to help his QB when the play breaks down. Which is something much needed.
I'm just going to temper my expectations because he's a relative unknown in this squad. He was acquired for literally nothing. So it's a low risk high reward type of deal.
At this point I don't care who is at WR next to Ginn as long as they do their job, Catch the ball.
