I fully believe that young black men in america deal with unjust biases and treatment. If Newton was white and he was surrounded by shirtless white friends with finger guns, the reaction would be close to nonexistent. However, there's no context to the photo, no clue that gives any utility to the bandanas and Newton's description is vague/personal. He meant for it to be provocative and to be misconstrued by Facebook fans(who aren't the most bright anyway). It was his plan all along. Props to Newton for his non-profit work and surrounding himself with high character educated friends. He's made genuine gestures and statements towards social issues in the past. I'm sure he'll continue to do so in the future. The IG posts I don't really stand by though. He's trolling, fug his feelings.
He seriously can't expect people to not have a problem with the bandanas. It's just being obtuse. It's one thing to respond to the critique, but the tone bothers me. He had to have known that image was provocative.
