Smith vs Lucas

Why Ryan Shazier is the BPA.

Recommended Posts

keep your strengths stron and ignore your weak spots.

makes sense.

need has to factor in if you aren't going to address it in FA.

LB is anything but a need.

i don't care how good he is. we need OL. we need receivers/pass catchers. we need DBs. we might need DE.

we need LB as much as we need DT and QB.

i wouldn't be happy with this pick, esp. if we did poo to address needs early.

Agreed.

Then add in the money already allocated and will be allocated to the position and we're getting into another to positions with to much money in it.

SEE RB'S.

With that logic we should draft a RB

Didn't realize DeAngelo Williams got hurt last year.

Stewart hasn't started consistently in three years meaning your argument has no validity to it.

then what do you do about OL and other big areas of need? hope that the table scraps you are left with doesn't poo the bed?

Yeah I mean the logic would be Shazier becomes a 22 year old Thomas Davis. With Kuechly, Star, Hardy* they form the best defense in league for next 10 years.

Make due at OL until next season if you can. That's the logic behind the pick IMO. He'll probably be gone before our pick so moot point anyway.

Coaches want a LT .. :rr:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10857420/ron-rivera-coach-carolina-panthers-says-protecting-cam-newton-key

1st. OT | Cyrus Kouandjio / Morgan Moses

2nd.WR/TE | Jodran Matthews/ Austin Sefrian Jenkins.

They said that was the priority... they also said reaching will screw you and that if their is a premier pass rusher at the 28th pick... they'll take him.

They said a lot of things and most of it was blowing smoke. We are two weeks from the draft, expect a lot of this type of chatter to come out of every organization now.

Every year:

1. Some wr prospect is compared to Steve Smith

2. Someone wants us to draft a linebacker just for the hell of it

No exceptions

So does the fanbase know that you can sign free agents after the draft?

We signed two players (Florence and Mikell) after the draft that eventually started for us, there are other ways to address needs than just the draft.

If Shazier is BPA at 28, somebody might make a nice offer for the pick.

Well if that certain someone said we should draft Keuchly. Which btw was who I wanted us to draft in 2012. I think its a good idea. Shazier would make a bigger impact than a late 1st round grade WR. We are a hard hitting defensive team. our own coach used to play linebacker in the NFL for a superbowl winning team. He could coach this kid up to be great, He already has that killer instinct like Keuchly. Just remember defense wins championships, not #1 WRs.(see megatron)

Just don't watch the Clemson game. I don't think he did a damn thing. He doesn't have Keeks instincts but if he could impact the OLB spot like Lavonte David who wouldn't want that.

Just not keen on adding another top contract into the LB spot. AJ showed potential and you could grab a Telvin Smith much later.

I honestly wouldn't mind if we're sitting at #28 and our board has been shot to pieces, which I think is very possible. I personally think Shazier is gone by #28, but lets say all the players at WR, OT, S and CB we have higher than him on our board are gone, do you reach on someone who could be the next Everette Brown or take Shazier who would be the heir apparent to TD?

I don't think it will come down to Shazier both because he'll be gone and someone on our board will be available. I do have to say that if Kyle Fuller were to fall, even though I think he'll go as the first CB off the board, I'd take him over several other prospects.

If I had to predict our 1st and 2nd round picks, I think 1st) OT- Joel Bitonio 2) WR - Devante Adams.

IF and I do mean IF Shazier is available at 28, he will likely be the BPA. And yes, it would be hard to pass on him. But I don't see him getting all the way down to us. I think his name is called by the Packers or the Jets when it is all said and done.
