I just saw this on Twitter and thought I would post this, it's really funny looking back that this was even a debate.

I've been looking at Cam Newton threads on other sites recently. It's a shame that no one wants to admit how good he is. Everyone is in denial it seems. Some even go as far as saying we should have taken Gabbert. ( People also said we should have traded down for The Golden Calf of Bristol )

Just fuging look at Gabberts expression. It's like he already looks scared of getting demolished behind the Jags O-line. Meanwhile Cam's just like...yeah, I got this.

And Locker looks like he should be playing the bully in a high school movie or something

Peyton Manning vs Ryan Leaf was supposed to be a tough choice too.

Yeah, it really emphasizes how much we and the media tend to "overthink" things. Luckily or scouting staff knew what it was doing.

But if we would have taken Gabbert we would have had awesome hair at the QB position

This is a prime example of why scouting is so important.  In this current draft, we keep hearing about how deep the WR draft class is and how some want to go elsewhere at #28 simply because we can get comparable talent later.  Maybe you can, maybe you can't.  Just because prospects may be similarly rated doesn't mean they will similarly produce in the NFL.

In my opinion, he's not going to be a successful pro quarterback. His skill set doesn't translate well to what we want to do on offense (same deal as Tewbow last year).

Spoiler

There are reasons why I don't work in the NFL

Likewise, I thought both Josh Freeman and Eric Crouch would be great pro quarterbacks :(

But in my defense, i didn't want Clausen either.
