OLine, Cam holding the ball too long, or bad play calling?

Let's have this discussion when we have good receivers.

This is not a good argument and is out of context-Signing a TE was part of a list of moves the front office made recently. Tell me, could I have meant that this is how the front office is fixing the problem?  If I say that is what I meant and it is logical, then let it go.

lol I think you basically just thought he was a lot better than what he is, then when presented with facts about how bad he was last season you realized that you can't justifiably say he will contribute immensely to out weight the lost of other receivers or to form a dynamic duo of tight ends, his signing is based purely on potential and even then a guy who has chance after chance to show his potential and doesn't.....just isn't a very liable receiving threat.  His signing was miniscule and I don't expect him to contribute greatly to any of the issues already presented in this thread.  His catch percentage of balls thrown his way is lower than any receiver who was on our team last season, statistically he's not even an upgrade lol.

And the whole "addressed" vs "fixed" thing, now you're just arguing semantics....and kinda contradicting points you've already made, you've already implied that he will assume a pass catching #2 tight end role, I never disagreed with that I simply said dude isn't that good and I don't think he will be like Shockey for us a few seasons back, shockey had a lot of versatility and intangibles...

One more variable--WRs not getting open.

This.

Remember the red zone TD Cam threw to Olsen in Atlanta where he took like 15 seconds to throw? Against a team with a pass rush more competent than the Falcons, that's a sack.

You are not qualified to tell others what they think.  If you were, you would know that I think public schooling failed you, assuming you are not still in it.

PS ness is not a word.

Tread carefully hdevonxz, or MHS will randomly begin detailing his level of education to you when his argument starts going downhill.

A little bit of everything.

As people have mentioned, O-line and WR contribute.

Also Cam holds the ball "too long" pretty often because many times when he holds on to the ball he makes borderline magical escapes for a first down that no QB has any right to make. But obviously he can't always make that escape and gets taken down.  IMO that's a good trade off.

Well since you're no longer discussing football my friend, I think it's time to move on.

Damn right, Red. The irony is this-people who lack common sense and education do not realize what they look like to those who have it.  Get someone to explain that to you.

It was a combination of things, but the oline believe it or not was not that much of a problem. We typically graded in the top ten as a unit in pass blocking according to most advanced metrics. That was due mostly to Gross and it's going to be "interesting" this year with him gone. But last year, it wasn't as bad as most people thought.

Me too.  I read an article about Flacco some time ago.  He was having trouble putting touch on his short passes.  I wonder if it was ALL Dixon.

I have learned enough to take a wait and see approach to anyone Gettlemen brings in.  His success rate is pretty solid.

Well...Wait and saw,  Dixon terrible and irrelevant.  O line as bad as can be.

Here's an interesting stat. Cam has been sacked at least 30+ times in his first 4 seasons including 43 last year and he's on pace to pass that this year.

Peyton Manning in 17 seasons has never been sacked 30 or more times in a single season. That's just crazy. Get this man some goddamn protection.
