The Big Four?!?!

Recommended Posts

According to ESPN,

The Miami Heat and their top players are exploring options on how they can acquire Carmelo Anthony and pair him with James, Wade, and Bosh...

What the hell...

If this happens, I'm done with the NBA.

I hope it happens so more people start to hate the Heat and the 3 "great" players they have. What a joke to have to team up with one another to get a ring. fug the Heat

The only way this type of stuff is going to stop is if the salary cap is lowered and held at a consistent mark for at least three years.

If it keeps going up big market teams are going to continue to manipulate the cap in order to form all-star teams.

It's making the league a bigger joke than it already is.

No way this happens bc all their money would be tied up into 4 players. They wouldn't be able to play anything for the remaining players to fill out the roster.

Wade's knees won't hold up so one of them will be going after one last big payday.

And he'll if it did happen... it would just be that much sweeter when we knock their ass out of the playoffs.

If everyone takes $15 mil they could make it happen.

Yep, and they could take a couple midlevel exceptions and draft picks.

I agree.  fug the NBA if this happens.  It is already rigged for the heat.

This is going to be a big problem for Silver, but I don't see what he can do about it.

I was hoping that the Big 3 in Miami would not be successful, so that others wouldn't try to replicate it.

The NBA needs to switch to a hard cap.

A hard cap would fix this and spread the talent around the league.

Then if these jerks want to team up at least they will have to really take less money.

Disgusting. Heck, Brooklyn has a very good team and a billionaire owner but even we can't compete with teams like Miami and LA (on paper, lol). If this deal goes down, in a few years there will be 3-4 all star teams and the rest of the NBA will be a pile of hot garbage.

Hard cap won't fix it all. They are already taking pay cuts to play together.

The no tax thing in Florida helps out (Texas as well).

This rumor has been out for probably a year now. Simmons and Jalen talked about it once upon a time I know, so not sure why it's just now getting out. It's still doubtful IMO...but if Carmelo leaves NY, it's for Miami or Chicago with the Heat being the favorite.

They would have to play for scraps if it was a hard cap. The cap is set at $64 million (I believe). Those four would have to agree to play for $12 million a year.

With a hard cap you are forced to stay away from that number. So even though it looks like they would have a bunch of room, realistically you want to stay at least $4 million away from the salary cup number.

You can't fit sign eight players for $12 million dollars.

There's a reason you don't see this type of stuff happen in the NHL and NFL.
