Happy for Tim Duncan

Last of a dying breed. Single franchise superstar that put his team and community above himself. I'm not sure you will ever see this again.

One of the true greats of the game. A throwback player that true basketball fans can appreciate. Solid fundamentals and team play.

I agree. He is the example of fundamentals and being humble. He is such a quiet player and this era of basketball that is hard to find. This guy has 5 rings and is a team first guy. I am happy for him and his team. They played there butts off and they are always in the hunt. Kudos to that franchise. Even the GM seemed humble last night and gave credit to his players/coaches but wouldn't take any credit at all.

he'd have 6 rings now if it weren't for that Ray Allen 3 last year

If it weren't for Derek Fisher with 0.3 seconds left in 2004, or Dirk's miracle 3 point play in 2006, it likely would be 8.

Tim Duncan's run of dominance (in turn, Pop's run as well) has been amazing. Greatest PF ever, easily a Top 10 player ever, and someone who the game will truly miss when he hangs it up. Which I'm thinking could be now.

Yeah, I think we saw his last game yesterday. He was the last of the starters Popovich took out, and I feel like that was so the fans could give him one last standing ovation.

It's impossible to dislike Dunc. Watching him after they won, holding his kids, brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely beautiful. I hope he stays 2 more years, 3-peats, then retires.

Yeah, if you're not happy for Duncan you literally have an ice box where your heart used to be.

Great player, even better man. He's one of those you want to tell your kids you had the pleasure of watching.

When I moved to NC Duncan was in his last year at Wake. I bumped into him coming around a corner on campus. I said I'm sorry and said something about his height. One of the nicest guys I've met. I was just some douchebag kid and he took the time to tell me who he was, Google wasn't around yet. I've always been a fan of his.

And to think he was discovered in the virgin Islands as a swimmer..to GOAT PF at Wake Forest and the NBA.

Crazy how that works.

Best (Team) I have ever seen play. Not 1, 2 or 3 players the whole team. They were able to go 10 deep on a given night. The scouting department that gets all these players overseas to join them. Making the extra passes & playing the game how its suppose to be played not just iso with 1 or 2 players. Use to hate the Spurs back in the day since they were so boring to watch, but the past few yrs have been fun & great to see. Props to Lebron only one who showed up. I live in San Antonio & last night till this morning was crazy.
Was shown on ESPN 1st Take this morning, Danny Green acknowledge me during commercial break when I yelled Tar Heels & Fuck MCants. Straight partying, such a blast. Still my true loyalty will always be to the Panther, Tar Heel, & Hornets. Good times though!

And I can always say that I was there in person when he was drafted by the Spurs #1 overall in 1997. That was when the draft moved around every year and it was in Charlotte that year.
