Mini Camp Update

Recommended Posts

i think Gring has an outside shot at the roster if Webb doesn't start to show more potential as a reliable back up.

He'd have to beat out the play60 kid.

Rivera said amini looked a bit rusty after returning to participating in the team portion, he should get back to form after TC. I feel pretty good about the interior of the line

"Byron Bell and Nate Chandler again split time at left and right tackle throughout the day. Garry Williams was also thrown into the mix."

How bad would it be if Chandler took the LT spot and Garry Williams took the right?

On paper, about as bad as any OT combo in the league in the last 4 years.

And in real life could end up being pretty decent.

You never know. However I do think the current OT situation is the front office throwing poop against the wall and hoping something sticks. If we weren't Hurney challenged, there is NO WAY IN HELL we'd be going into this season with our OT situation like it is now.

Hey Byron

here's the problem....who would replace him. the saddest thing of it all is that he's one of the two best OTs we have on the roster and there is a drop off in talent after him.

we aren't in any hurry to find someone from the outside so kicking bell to the curb could actually hurt more than keeping him at OT.

I think Garry is a better RT than bell

Comparing the talents of a couple undrafted tackles who will be protecting our franchise is not ideal.

when you've got two udfa's and one is a converted DT flip flopping between RT and LT, i think that's exactly what you're doing.

and totally agreed on this being the by-product of too much hurney for too long.

what would you rather have, your finger slammed in a car door or banged on by a hammer?

Actually somewhere between the 2-5 round, we could have taken a OT, to give us some other form of an option, but since we thought there could be nothing better in this draft in those rounds than an undrafted Byron Bell and converted DT.....

It's just a mini camp though and not the final verdict. I don't believe at all it will work with either at Tackle, but I do think it's what we have and they deserve a fair shot in the regular season to prove themselves....

That said, how much risk are we willing to take with Cam coming off his surgery?
