I like it and congratulations to Chandler -  an UDFA,  looking at hitting the street a year ago when we were full up of defensive lineman - he worked his ass off  moving to our area of need and made enough of an impact that he earned a decent contract.   I hope he does well and continues to improve.

The 3-year extension for #Panthers starting LT @natechandler89 is worth $7.95M with $1.87M in guarantees. Under contract for $570K in 2014

Good for him, must have shown enough so far to warrant locking him up at a reasonable price.

I like it a lot.  I don't hate Byron, but he's not the long term answer starting anywhere on ours or anyones roster, and Nate has a higher upside.  I think we end up with Nate on the left being groomed long term for us, Williams on the right, and BB backing up both.  It's not an O-line that will intimidate anyone, but it's not the worst thing in the world either.

Doesn't sound too good for Byron Bell.

All three where big part of STs and undrafted. Smart moves for each side. But id hold off on calling it bargin for chandler til the real games happen. Does add a wrench towards a new deal for bell, but most here want him cut. I still want to see a hardy deal done, timing is good for the panthers. Dave is doing a good job of signing current panther deals and drafting, which is all I care about the first three years.

Chandler must be impressing. Going against a #2 defense in practice can really help in evaluating a tackle.

If Hurney did this people would kill themselves

I NEVER remember Hurnery giving a multi-year extension with only 1.87 million guaranteed. That fugger would hand out $20 million signing bonuses like they were nothing

Yeah but they could just really like Chandler as a RT and want to lock him up long term. In no way does it mean Bell is expendable nor does it mean Chandler is designated the LT. It just means that Chandler earned a new contract, and good for him.

Part of me wonders of this means that Chandler is looked at as the long-term solution at left tackle but another part of me wonders if they're going to put him on the right side this season before moving him to the left after Bell's contract is up (who is on a one and done deal, correct? I'm not sure)

Good to lock him down, he'll be a solid backup down the road. Well, I guess he'll be the starter until the Panthers have the $$$ for a legit OT. Will be interesting to see what he's got.
