Or he is saying, do your job efficiently, and you get to leave early, where as the rest of the sluggards have to stay here and put up with me riding their butts.

Stop it

Never work for a corporation again? So exactly do you plan to work for? The choices are pretty much a corporation, the government, or yourself. And working for yourself tends to be the most difficult of the three.

Fwiw, back when I was young and had a crappy job, we use to compete to be the one who went home early when things were slow. :)

I plan to only work for non profits or in government.

Yeah, that is pretty lame.  Places with high turnover tend to treat people like this, and then wonder, why they have high turnover lol.  Next time, take your time till that last hour.

A lot of non profits are corporations.

And I worked for the government for several years.  Had some great bosses and some bad one.

Instead of having a problem with the corporation, it seems like you have issues with the management.  Crappy bosses can occur in just about any endeavor.  Unless you work for yourself, then you only have to deal with crappy customers, and crappy employees if you have others working for you.

Hate to break this to you g money but those are corporations in sheeps clothing.
Some non profits are worse because the top person may mot share the wealth.
Better off doing your own thing and paying people out of your own pocket an even better wage and never call them to come in and work for someone else who called in etc.
Thats how you revolutionize things

Imagine getting sent home 2 hours early after completely busting your ass just because they realized that they could save an entire 40 bucks by sending us both home. Rather or not I go to work today is a decision I still have to make. Its not just this incident I see GROWN MEN in the back, crying while smoking a cig. Seriously fug these people. I'll bite the bullet and take out a summer loan next year because this is ridiculous. /rant

I can honestly say you should avoid corporate life at all costs.

Typical 47%er, corporate America provides a source of income and you still complain.

Seriously, your boss is sending you and your coworker a message:

Don't do your jobs so efficiently next time and he'll be forced to give you a full days wages.

welcome to the new age, welcome to the new age. This is the new work ethic ,nice!

Oh no, a whole six hours?! The world must be so cruel and mean.

So can I write a thread bitching about how I have a college degree and shouldn't be working eight days straight? And that my normal work week is about 60-80 hours? At night? In every weather condition known?

Can you guys not read?  He's upset because he was supposed to come in for 8 hours of work, but because they worked hard and efficient, the way you should, he got let go 2 hours earlier than he should have.  Basically, he was penalized for being a good employee and is frustrated.

Looks like a lot of bitching about being short staffed, getting sent home early.

I forgot to add. While this little summer job is making grown men cry last week we had a man die at work. Sure he didn't follow safety procedures but he had turned in his two weeks because he didn't like the work. Which is cool because this isn't for everyone. But he's gone now leaving behind a wife and kids.
