Luck already top 5 QB? per ESPN/NFL hack

50 posts in this topic

Then what was all the noise about his father didn't want him to play here and decided his son would stay in school? Where did that all come from?

Butthurt fan speculation.

There was never any actual truth to it. Oliver Luck himself debunked speculation about it when a reporter asked. He even called Jerry Richardson directly to make sure he knew there was nothing to it.

If Cam was a bust, Nolan Nawrocki would be riding his prediction all the way to a prime-time gig at ESPN.  Articles that claim a second or third year QB is already among the league elite are really more about the author's placing an "I called it!" article out there than actually measuring accomplishments.  And Luck is probably going to be a top five QB at some point in the next several years.  Doesn't mean Cam won't, but it does explain why some of these pundits seem to be overly in love with him.  They just want to be able to say they were right years before anyone else.

it's an opinion, don't let it break you down or cause you to make a fool of yourself.

That's fine but why even have two separate forums then?

i know we have a tinderbox, but maybe we should add a kleenexbox forum for all the crying that goes on

It came from posters here. There was nothing outside of this forum about it. People repeat it enough and it takes on a life of its own.

So when the offseason ends, threads like this get moved to the NFL subforum. One of the many benefits of the start of football season.

I heard an ESPN analyst say Luck was a top 5 qb in the NFL while he was still playing at Stanford.

Point is who gives a poo what these guys say? No one should.

The only times it makes sense to be upset about how good other team's quarterbacks might be are 1) when you have a lousy defense and 2) when your own quarterback isn't great.

Neither of those conditions applies to us. Nor are they likely to anytime soon.

    • Between Hurd and Dobbs Tennessee had the two most overrated recruits in college football. Kamara was so much better than Hurd
    • He's got the height at 6'4". But I'm looking at arm length and wingspan and looking at the other DEs we've have targeted recently (Hardy, Alexander, Horton, Ealy, Miley, Edwards, Delaire). Delaire is the only one under 34" arms and he seems more like a pass rush specialist.
    • I see what your saying and I hope that's not the case. I personally don't see KB as a player that's going to lead the league in catches or yards. I see him not as the stereotypical receiver but as a player that can be known as the one who makes the really tough, clutch catches. The dangerous red zone target that a defense has to key on but will still be deficult to stop. The guy that makes the hard fought 1st down catch on 3rd and long when we really need it late in the game. Dependable.  I believe he has the potential to be that guy. I hope at least.
