Why Nate Chandler is the LT of the future

This is like a two year project.  We remember Chandler was filling in on the O-Line while he was on the practice squad in 2012.  This isn't some spur of the moment decision to get this guy to play on the offensive line.

His athleticism has never really been questioned and he has been working with Ray Brown and Jackie Slater?  Who better to learn from.  What is that like 35 years worth of experience?

I believe DG has no doubt that Chandler will succeed.  Our whole season offensively rides on Chandler.  If there were any doubt he would have signed someone as a "Just in Case".  I do believe we will sign someone when 53 man rosters are set but that person will be a back up not our starter.

i'm still in wait and see mode before i feel at all comfortable at OT.

slater may be a stud and have a great eye for talent, but he's also not coaching chandler for free. not saying he's lying, btw. my standard has always been "let's see it on the field".

I've been on this Chandler-wagon for some time and if one of a few things this staff has proven us right for so far is coaching up talent they find (This is also why I'm pumped about a brand new WR group).  Nate has the talent and seeming football IQ, athletic, great size..is totally a mold under the current reigns.  He reminds me of Bakhtiari a bit but more of a real tackle.

And I think the "Hurney brought him here" idea is faulty outside of a select few with big contracts.  He's still here for a reason.

Also if he wins the LT job I think garry Williams is a sleeper to usurp bell at RT

As long as he can protect Cam, I'm all for it...

I'm more concerned with Bell than Chandler anyway

Yea that wasn't my intention. I just meant dg didn't sign the guy a la victor Cruz and the giants. They've stayed with chandler because you don't pass on the opportunity to have a guy with his kind of athleticism. I think he's a year early then what they wanted because of gross retiring but he has all the tools and he's a smart guy. I think there will be some growing pains but I think he'll settle in nicely.

Been giving big Nate props since last season.

Kinda predicted him having a real opportunity to be our LT.

Not that I'm always right, but it's nice to see players that work hard, develop.

Your roster can't be filled with all high draft picks and big free agents.

Wasn't it hurney who picked him up?

On a side note to hurney. If he hadn't drafted cam and luke he would probably go down as the worst gm of all time.

Lol not even close

This is what I am hoping for as well.

I'd be strangely ok with a Chandler-Silatolu-Kalil-Turner-Williams line. I'd definitely feel better with that than with any combination of Bell and Chandler on the outside.
