Watching these retirements on Panthers.com makes me think. I'm not sure so sorry for asking, but Steve can retire as a Panther right? Just sign a one day contract correct?

I'm pretty sure he's already said that he'll retire a Panther.

What?  Smitty did a great job of handling his release and said all the right things in the media.

Even if Gettleman doesn't like him, he wouldn't stand in the way of allowing Smitty to retire a Panther and JR wouldn't let him even if he tried.

What? Saying there will be blood and you're not even the starting receiver for your new team is the right thing to say? Telling Panther fans not to call him by his first name anymore is the right thing?

What's he supposed to say "woo-hoo I got cut by the only team I've played for. I'm not going to even play against them"

Am sure there will be a buffet table at the ceremony with the main dish being "blood and guts".

He'll play 2 years in Baltimore and sign his one-day deal here. I don't see him making the 3 his contract is for, plus the Ravens can save money by cutting him even after next year I believe.

Then he'll have a big retirement ceremony that Cam and many players will attend, all wearing Super Bowl rings which will cause the only awkward point of the press conference, as Smitty makes a "joke" about wanting one of those.
