When did it become popular to call Charleston, SC "Chucktown"?

Chucktown can only be called such from those from or have lived or are living in SC at one point or another.

Chuckton has some great parks. And a lovely pond walk..not quite the river walk..

It's annoyed me for several years, only now it has bubbled up onto teh interwebs where all good discourse belongs. I'm convinced this has happened in the last 10 years.

Wouldyou rather it be called Jasetown?


I already own that city so this would be suitable.

And it's been Chucktown since the mid 90s at least. And my SOB mom says Chaaaalston.
