Visuals can help so much. I think what the charts illustrates best is the value of field position.

Oh, and this might not as pretty but adjusting row width can be an approximation for time of possession for a particular drive.

Great thread @KB_fan! Love looking at all those numbers, especially when the numbers tell a story and paint a picture. Our defense is dominate so far. I hope we're able to keep it going, but I believe they can. The offense is just about there. We're moving the ball, but we just have to start producing some TD's. We're about there, though. Great thread!

Because we are a run 1st team with "no passing attack" a good play action on 1st down I feel would be so effective.. wish we could mix up the tempo a bit

I don't think you need to look all that closely lol

Very true!  It's obvious without the charts & numbers.  But those drive charts where opposing teams pretty much hit a wall at the 50 yard line (or earlier) on 80% of their drives sure ARE fun to look at!

I like this but at the same time I dont. We arent beating teams  to where they have to give up the run game and strictly pass. Lets see what the pass happy saints do. Because I think this game will test our secondary. New Orleans probably wont even think run at all in this game. We have shut the run down and it would be nothing but a wasted down for them. If we shut down Thomas, they wont score more than 6 or 7 on us. Expect our offense to find some rhythm.

Whole 2nd half vs. 49ers!!!!  In spite of having some success in the run early on, they abandoned it almost totally!

Here are the run / pass stats for both halves of the week 1 game:

                                  1st Half          2nd Half

Run Attempts           11                    4

Run Yards                 54                    -3

Pass Attempts           15                20

Pass Completions    11                 13

Pass Yards                88                 105

I hear you but its the 49ers. They have no receivers except Gacon and Hoyer as a qb. I get what your saying though.

@KB_fan great charts. Really enjoyed the drive charts.

In your research, could you see what the Panthers' tendencies were regarding our offense? Without rewatching the games I felt like the following:

1. San Fran - Lots of short passes with CMC being 1st read.

2. Buffalo - More intermediate and long attempts with WRs being 1st read. I also felt like we ran the ball more often than not on 1st down with little success.

I know that we are one of the worst teams on 1st down. Do you know if that is because we are bottled up running or just not passing well?

Great questions.  I'll see what I can do in regard to a closer look at our offense.

May have some answers Sat or Sunday.   I've got a big work meeting I'm leading tomorrow and still have some stuff to prepare that will keep me busy tonight & tomorrow a.m.
