Guess How Predictable The Panthers Running Game Is?

Recommended Posts

Ok.  So.  Let me preface what I'm about to say with 2 things.  1. I would fire Shula instantly and 2. I wish we could just bring Chud back like nothing happened and resume normal decent OC activities (they fired him after 1 f year. IMO that move by the Browns took a SB away from us).

Ok.  Now.  This backside reverse screen play where we basically fake a screen one way and throw it the other way.  When it works, it's beautiful.  When it doesn't, it gets easily intercepted by Khalil Mack for a free touchdown.  IMO it doesn't work now because in order to run a backside fake screen, you HAVE TO RUN THE ACTUAL SCREEN SOMETIMES because a fake doesn't work if you don't run the actual thing you're faking.  Football 101? Maybe.

With that said.  I feel like running a few HB screens to CMC would really open up for that play to Stew.  If we line them both up, fake the screen to CMC and reverse it on the back end to Stewart, the guy who the d doesn't really expect to get that pass, seems like it could be a good back and forth.  And in my opinion, Shula's biggest enemy is a strong outside pass rush.  We get into situations where the DE pin their ears back (vs. Minn, SB 50 vs Den, last week to name a few glaring examples) and Cam just gets annihilated.  These screen plays when effective serve to back that pass rush up.  You do that once or twice to fruition and all of the sudden the pass rushers hesitate.  Our biggest point of success in 2015 was that at any snap, 11 defensive players hesitated for 1 second focusing on Cam.  We've got to be able to throw wrinkles to create that hesitation.  Then you back the D up, and it's on.  Just a thought.

Why point out that you don't have a clue. Now ask me has Stewart scored a TD on the ground or the air?  Did you see the pass to Stewart he dropped over the middle against Buffalo? And did you see how we ran CMC between the tackles several times in 2 games?

Well if you did then you would stop making stupid threads saying we are too predictable and only use players one way or the other. Because if that is what you think you clearly have an agenda or don't know what you are talking about.

I don't even remember the last time I made a thread, the hell are you on about?

If you disagree and want to make excuses for Shula, by all means go ahead.

How many teams use multiple backs and have a quarterback who is 245 and can run like Cam. Gee you think they might be related?   Duh.....

This isn't a post to throw shade, just curious.

Stopped reading at I would bring Chud back. He did more to get Cam killed in year 2 than Shula has the past 3.

I just want you to back up what you say with actual facts based on watching film not half assed parroted opinions with no basis. Do it in a thread or post.

I watched all the games last year. Yes our OL has and still continues to be an issue but we should not consistently be running the play clock all the way down to zero just to get a call in. Shula isn't a first year OC.

You could see Stewart getting frustrated last Sunday, literally no where for him to run.

Stewart has to EARN every single yard he gets

Exactly, he is under appreciated here and in the national spotlight because he doesn't get many yards. They don't take into account how he gets hit at the LOS or in the backfield, then has to break a tackle just to get positive yards. He doesnt get to the second level untouched very often.

this thread is a lot less fun with an abrasive member of shula's family in here

Especially one who is tired of all the opinion and innuendo and calls out folks who can't back up anything they say. Take you for instance. Let's run a half back screen. Duh. Two problems. What is Cam's completion % on passes behind the line and within 5 yards of the line? How great is Stewart catching the ball? Did you see the pass last week that hit him in the hands and he dropped it?

Did you see the screen to CMC where he ran for 15 yards. Maybe we didn't run them in the past because they didn't work because we didn't have a good back who was quick and has good hands. Maybe we are running them now because we have a good back who can catch the ball.

We aren't. Cam has 15 to 20 seconds on all plays to call the play and get the call in. Plus we ran at least 60% of our passes out of the no huddle. So exactly how much of a problem is this really?

We had Ginn for years who had the worst drop rate in the history of the universe.  Does that mean you don't throw the ball to him ever again?  The point of doing that fake to CMC and going to Stew is that the defense knows we don't use Stew for it.  That was the original point of the thread, that we're not disguising run and pass by lining up and running under center or throwing under shotgun a ridiculous majority of percentage.  If QB/OC/anyone had the mentality of 'oh poop he had an opportunity and he dropped it guess we'll never throw to him again,' well.  IDK how that would turn out.  You should turn in an application and we'll find out.

The next Shula apologist I see I'm slapping them with this post the same way I slapped sanjay with the breakdown of those 14 snaps Funchess got without KB.
