Lamb needs to stay a starter..

1) He is the highest paid on the team..

2) He maybe the only 6'8 shooting guard in the league.. Which means he has size and length advantage most night he suits up.. He can post up hit mid range pass and shoot 3's..

3) Not only should he be the number 1 scorer on the team he should be our version of James Harden.. But again he doesn't have the will to do so..

4) Jeremy is younger with similar skills and way more aggressive on the offensive end..

So why not go with him..

1) Wrong - Howard is the highest paid player on the team.. took 2 secs to look that up..

2) Batum plays SG because we start MKG at the 3.. Batum's natural position is the 3 but because he can defend anyone 1-4, we put him in at 2 guard..

3) He should be the #1 scorer on the team..!?! and become our James Harden..!?!
Well then, I think because Marvin is our third highest paid player - he should be our version LaMarcus Aldridge.. he should hit those turnaround jumpers at will.. and MKG should be our Avery Bradley and get 10 more shots a game because he is next on the payroll..
That STINGY Kemba - all he does is steal shots from our much better players.. their contracts say it all..

4) by your logic - Lamb should just shut up and wait his turn becus he isn't paid enough.. and don't even think about starting.. jeesus..

-------------------------------

^^Obviously this is all BS.. Batum has averaged more shots here in Charlotte than he has his entire career = he has averaged +3.5 shots MORE than his average in Portland..

Look - just because Batum has a big contract does not mean he now has to become Kobe or fuggin James Hardenn (wtf).. He has to do what makes the team run best - and that is facilitate the ball, play solid defense and help defense, knock down a few 3pt shots at an efficient rate AND be our #2 guy behind Kemba.. Lamb is filling that Last role right now perfectly and I couldn't be happier.. when Batum comes back - More will be on his shoulders than just getting buckets like Lamb is expected to do..

Starting is kind of irrelevant in the NBA, I think our crunch time lineup should be

Kemba

Lamb

Batum

MKG

Howard ......maybe Frank if we really need offense

Eventually Monk would hopefully be able to crack that in place of Lamb

I disagree.  Batum is a better player.  I am looking forward to a second unit with Lamb on it though.

1. Howard is only here another year maybe.. Based off years and commitment.. Batum is contractual obligated to make more..

2. So like I said and you just said as well Batum is a SG.. And the fact that he is bigger and can guard and score over most others at that position we shouldn't expect him to?? Huh??

3. Again we shouldn't expect a guy

We're obilgated to pay the most to..

Who is physically stronger, taller, longer, just as fast and skilled on the offensive end as any other 2guard in the league...

Can guard 4 position on the court..

And the added bonus can run the offense as well..

Not to dominate on most Nights??

Side note all these skill sets sound a lot like Harden right??

He should just be a role player..

Funny part is your example of Marvin who isn't none of those things at the PF position..

Because on most night he isn't taller stronger than most PF and is pretty much playing out of position because he is truly a SF..

Look you have your opinion I have mine..

I have more than the money thing that make my expectations of Batum higher..

Again

1. Physically he should out match most at his position..

2. He has the skill sets to do so..

3. He has been giving the opportunity to do so..

Examples.. No reason other than him being to dam passive that he doesn't have dominate nights when facing the new 6'3 to 6'5 guards in the league.. That most teams have now.. Bradly Beal, Averey Bradly should be STAT nights for him. (But they never are). He should be a better or at least equal to Klay Thompson and Butler..  But again he is not.. Why is that??

Cool your opinion..

I'd rather give the younger player with more upside the opportunities we gave Nic...

Jeremy showing me the ability and the "will" to carry a offense when needed..

His 3rd score he did something I wish Nic would do more.. Notice the mismatch in size and took the smaller player to the post..

He also showed a better ability than Nic to go one on one at the top of the key.. No pic or screen and attack the basket either getting points or fouls... I bet Lamb has been to the line in this 8 game stretch more than Nic any 8 game stretch he has been here...

JMO i like what he brings to the starting line up more than Nic.

Personally I think you are underrating Nic, my opinion is not a knock on Lamb at all, I love what he is doing.

I'm not understating Nic..

I expect more from him.

And just like Boris Diaw not getting it..

Now I'd rather give the younger player who is showing similar skills (more aggressive offensively) a chance to become a star for this team.. Something I don't see from or coming from Nic..

I think the game against the Spurs shows exactly why Lamb needs to play with the second unit.

He can be our version of Jamal Crawford/ Manu Ginobli (in their prime). While these guys certainly were good enough to start they were a better service to their teams coming off the bench.

One reason Batum HAS to remain a starter is because he is far and away the best distributor on the team. I cannot wait to see how Dwight benefits from Batum's ball distribution. While Batum can score just watching him you can tell he wants to distribute first. I'll also mention Lamb has shown this year that he's a much more efficient scorer than Batum. Batum may put up more points but Lamb is clearly the better scorer. That is the guy you want coming off the bench.

Ultimately when healthy I think we go with:

PG: Walker, MCW

SG: Batum, Lamb, Monk

SF: MKG, Bacon, Grahan

PF: Marvin, Frank

C: Howard, Zeller

Inactive: Stone, O'Bryant

Imo I'd rather have Batum {who wants to pass more} be the older vet with the young player full 2nd team.. More shooters for him to pass to (Monk Bacon Frank) and the pick roll with Cody.. Plus he can take pressure off MCW.. You keep the more efficient scorer (Lamb) on the starting unit with MKG and he can concentrate on defense more and not needed to scorer. With a better scorer in the lineup..  Again just my opinion..

For me the only hestiancy is that Bacon and Monk are wildly inconsistent so far and that's to be expected of rookies.

Monk's last 6 games are 10, 2, 13, 25, 2, and 6

Bacon's last 6 are 1, 4, 2, 10, 18, and 7

I'd be comfortable with those guys putting up 10 across the board instead of a 2 point game here and a 25 point game there. But they are rookies so that's to be expected. The issue is if you have Batum out there with those guys and they aren't hitting then you force Batum to become the go to scorer and we all know he is a volume shooter. He'll chuck up those wild threes until he makes one.

If you roll with Lamb you have a guy out there who you know is going to get you 15 a night no matter what. I ultimately think that's why Minnesota beat the breaks off us. Crawford came in and got his 10-15 he gets a night. That allowed the starters just enough rest before they came back in. When you have a guy that can drop 15 off the bench you are basically sending the message to the other team that your starters are gonna make a run on our starters and I honestly don't think many teams could straight blow our starters out save Golden State.

I definitely see where you are coming from and I would agree with you if Monk and Bacon were more efficient. I could see your lineup happening next year as it looks like the roster should remain intact.
