Seattle Seahawks cut pass rusher Dwight Freeney

Recommended Posts

Quote

Less than a month after adding Dwight Freeney to the roster, the Seattle Seahawks announced they parted ways with the pass rusher Tuesday.

The move is a surprising one. The possible future Hall of Famer had found success with his new team, logging three sacks in limited playing time in four games.

May be past his prime, but absolutely get him even if he gets 10 snaps a game as a 3rd down rush specialist ... huge presence in the locker room for the youngsters like Pep

I would be all for this. Come in as an extra option 3rd down specialist. Not to mention that veteran presence. Could be another Jared Allen move.

How would this work? Is it a waiver system he has to go through? If not, is Hurney actually watching what's going on instead of being focused on the draft?

No waivers for players with 4+  years of NFL experience. Those guys immediately become unrestricted free agents.

Nope. After the trade deadline everyone hits waivers.
