WOW!!

Your best plan for the rest of the offseason..

Recommended Posts

It is what it is, best laid plans, blah blah blah.. What do we do now?? IMO..

We make 3 to 4 more FA signings.. Ebron, Safety (Boston, Reid, or Vaccaro) and a WR (Kendal Wright, Jarius Wright, or Maclin) maybe a older CB (DRC, Sacndrick, or Breaux)..

In the Draft ..

We Go Safety/ CB combo 1st 2 rounds..

3rd round Wr/RB/OG-C ..

5th Round RB/OG/ WR/DE

6th round QB/ DE/ LB

7th round Oline men..

Sign a starting caliber FS. Likely a former Panther. Either roll the dice on Boston as the long-term answer or bring back Parker or Mitchell as a stop gap.

I'm not sure if I see even a stop gap starting caliber CB left on the market.

Sign Eric Ebron as #2 TE and potential successor to Olsen.

Sign a veteran OG who can fill in as a starter if need be, but hopefully serve as a backup.

Ideally come out of the first three rounds with a CB, S, WR, and interior OL.

Look to add a RB later. Look for a potential developmental backup QB in the later rounds. A project TE wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The wildcard in this equation is DE.  We don't have an immediate need, but we have a huge need for future talent. If the right guy is there, DE is on the table at any point in the draft including #24. Our defensive philosophy is absolutely reliant on being strong at DE.

We don't need more WR.  Smith was more than enough currently. Byrd, Clay, Funchess, Sheppard and Bersin. Barring injury it will be fine.

Getting Olsen back from his injury is huge. Maybe getting Wilson or Ebron (which I think is overrated but whatever)  would add another weapon. Cam can only spread the ball around so much.

If we do add another WR it should only be through The draft.

We need S and CB.  I'd say take a look at Ried or Vacarro even Boston.  As far as CB Gaines is a good option. Or trade for one.

This draft has to have OL,  DLine and DB help. With maybe one weapon for Cam. Wide out or Tight end. It's time to address the needs and quit this BPA bs. Draft what you need to replace. If he fits your system and upgrades or replaces a player, good.

We don't need more WRs? What about the future? Do you want to pay Funchess $10M+ per year? Because that's what it's going to take.

My best plan for the rest of this off season is to stay busy, so that time flies...making it easier for me to continue to sit back approach that I've taken on this off season.

So much can and will happen between now and training camp.

I'll add in my 2 cents from time to time as usual.

That's my plan ;)

Like I said in another thread, fill as many holes before the draft. Boston, Burnett, or Parker needs to be brought in ASAP. I think the value in round 1 will be at g/c for us at 24, although I really hoping a blue chip cb or s falls to us in the first, to be serious contenders we have got to get this secondary in order. I’d bring breaux just for insurance or make a trade for Darby, if we can give up a 3rd for Darby that would set us up the best going forward along with a vet safety. Signing Ebron def would help along with adding a WR  early in the draft(round 2 or 3) or a rb.

how it’s set up now it’s going to be reach city if we go into the draft how the roster currently sits

This is my dream scenario. Send a third to Philly for Darby, he is on the last year of his deal but will only cost 1 million against the cap this year. Then go pick up the best free agent safety. It would give us much more flexibility come draft time.

1. Sign Ebron and wrap it up for major offensive weapons.  I know people will be like Fug no.  We have major holes elsewhere that needs attention.  Ebron has the upside and with the new offensive staff,  he can be useful.  Olsen, Ebron, Smith, Funchess, Bryd, Samuel is better than Rookie Funch, Brown, Ginn, Olsen, and Dickson which Cam had in his MVP season.  You spend  the money on Ebron too.  Dont be afraid to get too tight in cap space.  You know TD and Ryan Kalil are retiring afer the season plus Matt Kalil will be cut, which will open a ton of money following the season

Biggest needs are at DB.  Bradberry took a major step back and looks like a good #2 CB not a #1.  And he is all we have besides Captain and a unproven Corn Elder who are nickelbacks

Safety, all we have is a Old Adams.  Who played about as well as Roman Harper his last season here.  With TD not being able to cover like he once could, and Shaq not being to cover up to his hype.  The center fielders ak the Safeties are HUGE for our D.  Without them, we are going to have to bring the house blitzing getting pressure to cover up the msssive holes.

Draft

1. Josh Jackson- dude is a JNo clone.  Big athleitc.  Shuts guys down in the zone, and reads the QB better the other teams own  WRs.  His ball skills are right there with the elite and outs fear in QBs shutting that side of the field down.   One hole down

2. Justin Reid- he will fall, Deep draft at Safety.  Reid is your new centerfielder.

3a.  Billy Price or Ragnow- one will fall.  Price's stock has fallen some with the injury.  Either one can come in and start at LG this season then slide to C next year with Kalil gone.

3b. Kyzir White- again deep safety class.  White is a solid SS.

Trade up!  6th rounder, 7th rounder, and a 2019 3rd.  Duke Ejiofor.  The 3rd for next year was easy to give up with getting comp picks for Norwell, Star, and Dickson.  Ejiofor is a Athletic DE who can redshirt this season unless needed.

5.  Kalen Ballege or Bo Scarborough- trying for Chubb in the 2nd is nice.  But not going down this road again investing too heavy at RB when only one on the field at once.  It got Hurney in trouble last time with DWill and Stew, leaving too big of holes elsewhere.  CMC is your guy.  Your just looking for a big back to come in and compliment CMC.  A Ballage or Scarborough is Perfect for this, later allowing other major holes to be fixed

QB- Cam

RB- CMC, Scarborough, CAP

TE1- Olsen

TE2- Ebron

WR- Funch, Samuel

WR- Smith, Byrd

LT- Kalil

LG- Ragnow

C- Kalil

RG- Turner

RT- Williams

DE- Pep, Hall, Ejiofor

DT- KK, Butler

NT- Poe

DE- Addison, Horton

OLB- TD

MLB- Luke

OLB- Shaq

CB- Bradberry

FS- Reid

SS- Adams, White

CB- Jackson

kristoph2-confident(a).gif

— Sign FS Mike Mitchell

— Sign WR Brice Butler

We bring back Mitchell to shore up the FS spot.  Butler as another deep threat WR.

kristoph2-evil(a).gif

— Sign TE Eric Ebron

— Sign T/G Greg Robinson

We take a chance on both underperforming busts

Draft CB & DE in the 1st two rounds
