Lots of 'Boys fans/gamblers confident we lose opener

Recommended Posts

Well, it's not like there's much to talk about, but this story will make me smile all the more when we bring a can of whoop-ass to the 'boys in the opener.

https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2018/7/16/17575016/the-people-betting-on-the-cowboys-to-beat-the-panthers-in-week-1-are-doing-so-confidently

"This means that 59% of the bets placed have been on the Panthers to cover; however, 52% of the money has been placed on the Cowboys."

Let the money roll before we make heads roll!  Are we seriously headed towards being de facto 'dogs?

It's a big game. Outside of a victory against a division foe--there is no more satisfying win than sticking it to the entitled fans of the so-called America's Team. The game may have huge conference ramifications for teams coming out of (arguably) the toughest divisions in football. Team seeding and perhaps even a postseason appearance may literally ride on this game.

I'm not saying we have to win it, but losing it would not be a good look.

Honestly, I think that our D-line will limit Zeke to under 100 yards rushing, and I believe our unheralded secondary will stop Dak and company through the air. The Cowboys will be offensively challenged against better defenses and we are in that number. Our offense will roll. Every player and coach will be motivated to put on a winning performance for new owner David Tepper. They're not going to beat us.

On Paper, Panthers are better I Believe

Cam,  off to fast start we win

I think it is really that simple.

Offensive line and RB1.  I can't think of any other area where they have anything remotely comparable to us.  They replaced their WR1 with the Jags 3rd best WR.  Why certain sports biases live for multiple decades is beyond me.  I remember being a road underdog against them in 2015 too when we were 10-0 and they had like 3 wins.  Here we are again.  Can't wait.

It is important to consider that 60% of the bets are on us to win by 3 so that's not necessarily what this article is trying to hint at, but I'll take the bait.

Who knows what will happen come week 1, but it was utterly laughable when they were favored over us in 2015 on Thanksgiving.

In theory, we should beat them.  Both offenses are unknown at this point, but we are at home, and we  have the better defense.  But so often these preseason predictions are meaningless.

We stop Zeke, they're done. Idc how beat up and old our secondary is, Dak isn't gonna beat us with his arm

The Panthers have won 4 opening day games since the 2008 season, and 3 of those have been in the last 4 seasons.

Pretty sure the Patriots are "America's Team" now. I can't even name more than 3 Cowboys players ... if that.

And most Dallas fans can't find Dallas on a map. They still have a larger fan base than NE does. Of course, they are also the most hated team in the NFL.  Which is why they are on tv so much.  Viewers want them to see them lose or win.

Training camp hasn’t even started yet. Just a bit early to be putting money on a game when rosters aren’t even close to being set. Something tells me these are the types of people who bet on the coin flip & national anthem length at the super bowl.
