Today's office debate: Keep or not to keep bread in the fridge?

30 posts in this topic

Can I hijack this thread? I had an instance come up that I never realized was an issue...

Bottled ketchup.. Do you keep it in the fridge or in the pantry?

Personally, the wife and I have always kept it in the fridge after opening it, but I never really liked cold ketchup...

We buy two loaves at a time for home, freeze one, and throw the other in the bread box...

Frozen bread thaws right back to it's perfect softness overnight, and lasts just as long as it would have if not frozen...

You have a moment of clarity during your downward tinfoilhattedness!!

Or if you live in the Low Country, bread never molds. It's awesome.

Yes, but then I set it out for a bit to warm up.

Cold catsup + hot french fries = delishisness

agreed. and

Bread does not belong in the fridge.

I will not allow bread to take up space in my fridge that could be occupied by beer.

bread in the fridge, keeps longer. If I buy a loaf I stick it in the freezer until I've gone through the previous loaf.

I used to drive a bread truck too bitches.

Game. Set. Match.

Do NOT put bread in the refrigerator unless you want it to go stale faster...

Never store bread in your refrigerator. Science tells us that the staling process takes place faster at the cooler temperature ranges of a refrigerator.

I dunno why, but I still prefer my ketchup to be room temperature for my fries... even if they are hot...

Lately though, I have wanted cheese and bacon on my fries, so ketchup has been nonessential..
