I don't think I've ever hated Davidson. I think he's done a pretty solid job all year long. I don't like the conservative playcalling so much, but we are a damn good running team, which was supposed to be what Davidson was trying to accomplish.

So you think we should retool to a 3-4 scheme that doesn't fit most of our current players strengths. That would take 2 seasons to do.

Coaches on 11-4 playoff teams that had a gust of wind and a holding call on a hot headed reciever keep them from winning home field in the playoffs don't deserve to be fired.

no. i mean just get a guy off their staff and tell him we want a 4-3 scheme. i never wanted the scheme to change in terms of 3-4 or 4-3. i just want someone who has an aggressive mentallity for a defense and i thing one of those guys might do it

Our defense can barely play their own scheme, so it wouldn't be much of a loss....

not that I think it's a good idea.

Anybody paying attention knew we were thin at DT. Its been a problem all year. We never replaced Jenkins. When Kemo went down we didn't have enough bodies to keep it fresh enough to stop the best O line and running attack in the NFL

Is that really true? I know people like to throw this statement out there but is there any proof of this? Maybe my memory is f*cked up (and it is I'm sure) but when Fox was defensive coordinator for the Giants, they didn't play soft zones this much.

I honestly don't know.

But Fox had to see what was going on.
Why not stop it ? Why not beat the poo out of turdo on national TV to at least make us smile at the end ?
WHY WHY WHY LET IT CONTINUE!?

Lets get a 3-4 expert to run a 4-3? I don't think that will work out too well

I would fire trgo, and then re-hire him, only to fire him again.

Candidate A: Controller of one of the most prolific offenses in Panthers history, stocked with first round talent, that has stayed pretty healthy. Has scored <17 points only twice this season, and has only been here 2 seasons.

Candidate B: Controller of what has been an increasing embarrassing disaster of a defense that can seem to stop neither the run, nor the pass, while stocked with first round talent and good leadership. The past few weeks have been some of the biggest defensive stinkers in the history of the Carolina panthers. Injuries have hit, unfortunately, where they are the thinnest: DT, but even when healthy in the games before last week, we got gashed. Regardless, each week has seen a defense that has devolved away from the instinctive, attack and swarm the ball type defense that carried us in the beginning of the season, to what we have now. With the exception of the Denver game, the opposition's offense has done whatever they damn well pleased, and the offense has to bail em out. The ferocity is just gone and even worse, often look lost. I rarely see anyone swarming to the ball anymore, and Fox is supposed to preach "finishing games". Well guys, time to finish the season. Unless the injury report is understated, the downturn has to come from somewhere.

It's pretty obvious whom I think should be kicking rocks come season end, but it is not entirely his fault. We need to draft heavy to rebuild the D line, as the majority of what we have there now are not long term solutions.

Who do you let go?

You don't honestly think anyone's going to answer Davidson, do you?

As big a detractor of Trgovac as I am, kurb has a valid point.

My favorite offseason "never gonna happen" notion is that Herm Edwards gets let go from the Chiefs and his old friend John Fox asks him to come on board and run the Panther defense, or at least be a "consultant' who ends up running the defense eventually. Herm may not be a great head coach, but he's got a record as a solid (and aggressive) defensive coordinator. That, plus his aggressiveness would help balance Fox's cautiousness.

(no, it won't happen, but I can dream)

Way more likely that if Trgovac is replaced, it's Tim Lewis who gets the call.

Even more likely that nothing happens to Trgivac at all.

Turgo calls the defense that FOX wants.

Can't blame the cashier when the manager told them to ring up your gorcery's wrong.

Naw Kurb, if that was the case he wouldn't have took over the defense last year

I think you mean Jeff calls the offense that FOX wants lol

But Ima keep saying it. FOX needs to takeover on defense again. But we really need to stop playing off. Thats the main problem

Remember those threads earlier this year where some people were actually trying to say that we had an elite defense? And of course when anyone tried to talk some sense into these people, they weren't "real" fans. LOL. Where are those punks now?

Why is it always "we need to draft this player" or "we need to sign someone at X position" when it comes to Turdo? Why cant we have a competent coordinator that uses the best with what he's got?
