Ken Lucas

Lucas has a neck injury that is hurting his abilty to tackle. As far as coverage goes, the problem is more a lack of pressure from our d-line, than Lucas. Lewis can't push into the middle of the pocket for poo, that's why QB's just step up to avoid pressure from Peppers. The problem is Lewis. God I wish Jenkins would have kept his big mouth shut.

lucas isn't playing well but we don't get very much pressure which really does not help our secondary at all

Lucas will not be replaced by marshall, i say this over and over again but nobody gets it, marshall plays the slot, he'll play that no matter what is going on

Lucas has not played up to his contract this year, but he will not be cut, i hope he gets a deal restructured if we keep him because we have alot of other guys who deserve the money more than he does

if we draft a CB then it will need to be another bigger guy who can help in run support and cover the larger recievers, marshall is too small to be an everydown player in this defense, he's good for his size but alot of bigger recievers can get the best of him

I don't know how this problem will be fixed other than lucas just playing better, if we get more pressure though this problem will be alot less obvious

Lucas gets burnt just as easily as everyone else in the secondary. Unless it is a quick throw to Gamble (where he got his recent hype), Gamble gets abused just as easily. The DL and pass rush was a concern going in this year.......and it is showing in our secondary play. The scheme also doesn't help. A huge cushion given to WR w/ plenty of time to run and get open........how do you expect anybody to cover them.

I've noticed usually when we give a large cushion the recievers usually run long developing routes, in the slot or just off of the tackle we usually play alot closer and the routes the recievers run usually fits into that theory

Panthers need to make CB the priority in the draft this year.

DT first my friend then CB

It's the lack of pressure on the QB from the middle of the pocket. Lewis is not getting it done, so the WRs have time to run deep. This puts Lucas in a trailing postion, many times with his back to the QB. The fact is that our cover 2 defense has soft spots, the only question is whether or not the WRs have time to get to them. Cover 2 defense is not very good unless you have an excellent pass rush. Lewis sucks at pushing into the middle of the pocket, so Gamble and Lucas are going to get burned from time to time. Want it to stop? Bring in a DT like Jenkins. It's stops. Mystery solved.

scheme scheme scheme

Lucas is better closer to the WR.

Marshall has had his share of burnts lately as well.

yup.... luc hasn't been playing great but he's a bump n' run corner and for the life of me i can't understand why Turdo is forcing him to play such soft coverage.

oh wait i already answered my own question. Turdo is the answer to all the defenses woes.

he's a fuging moron and i'd love to get Romeo to replace his dumbass...

They don't want to throw toward Chris Harris and Chris Gamble. They know Harris is a problem. They're playing it safe. Thus Lucas gets burned. He's gonna have to prove he's no punk. He's gonna have to man up and get some INT's.

:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:

Defensive line can make a CB look great.

Increased pressure will help the Secondary.

Lucas is a bump in run CB, so the soft zone doesnt help him one bit.

i think they play so far off of recivers because they didn't have great safety help over top. I mean godfreed is a rookie and harris coverage is not the best (he's getting better though) and as everyone says fox is conservative and has a bend don't break defense so he won't play them up as close just in case they get past cornes and safety is out of position. add that to lack of pressure by d line on some play and we are left wide open for an attack. but we'll get better each game with everyone getting more comfortable with system (read fox added to defense) that's just mu opinion though.

your right, lucas has slowed a bit, i have been to 3 panthers games this year and he was great, but the stupid, bend and dont break defense does not help. zone sucks, do not forget 2 defensive lineman were out today. lucas had a head injury and has not been the same sense, the defenive cordinatory has a permanent head injury, where has the beast, number 52 been since the broncos game, out to lunch, beast or bear
