I guess everyone now knows what it means when Delhomme points and then pats his rear end.

That's the best video I've seen linked on this site in more than 2 years.

Good stuff.

Any team with coaches with half a brain would probably have picked up on that. Signals aren't meant to be undiscoverable, they are just signals that the opposing defenses typically don't pick up on. If they had noticed the audible, they would have obviously audibled themselves. The safety stayed in the box, regardless.

I'm curious how Steve figured to run the fade rather than the pitch. Maybe they both knew that he could blow Rod Hood away :-)

it was all about the press coverage.

This absolutely shows the chemistry between smith and delhomme. People keep saying smith bails delhomme out, but I think its the smart unspoken communication that works. Delhomme is a smart QB. That is the intangible people keep talking about.

i'm gonna guess that they change the smoke signal every game..or have a couple of signals that mean the same thing....those two have that kind of the kind of relationship that it wouldn't be hard to get on the same page with it..

Awesome. My favorite part was him motivating Williams and Stewart.

Nice video. It's a great thing when your team's offense can force defenses to pick their poison. Either double cover Smith, or keep 8 men in the box to stop the run.
